SIECIFICA'IION- forming part of Letters Patent No. 294,496, dated March 4, 1884. Application filed October 29, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern,
Be it known that I, NELs N ELSON, of Providence, county of Providence, State of Rhode Island, have invented an-Improvement in Buttons or Studs, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like letters on the drawings representing like parts.

The button-head A has an attached post, B, notched at b b to form wide shoulders 14, and the end of the post turned backward is notched at 15. The face-plate c of the. shoe is a concaved plate. The back-plate c, slotted at a,
is provided with elongated recesses or chambers in which travel the upper portions of the said shoulder next the notches b b, as the shoe 0 is turned .on the post B. The anchorplate d, placed in the shoe between the plates 3 5 6 6 has a wide slot, d, and side notches, 10 10, (see Fig. 3,) into which the Wide edges of the shoulders 14 of the post rest.
