, UNITED STATES PATENT I OFFICE.
HARVEY L. rrsnnn AND ANGELL J. HASSELL, or TOLEDO, IOWA.
PORTABLE RESERVOIR FO'R STOVES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 294,215, dated February 26, 1884. Application filed January 19,1853. (No model.)
To (ZZZ whom it flux/y concern.-
Be it known that we, HARVEY L. Frsrrnn and A. J. HAssELL, both citizens of the United States, residing at. Toledo, in the county of Tania and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Reservoirs for Stoves; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of a rear View of a cookstove, showing opening in back. Fig. 2 is a rear View of the reservoir detached from the stove. Fig. 3 is an end View of the same, and Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view of reservoir applied to the stove.
This invention has relation to improvements in detachable reservoirs for stoves; and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
h is a flange projecting from the front plate of the reservoir-case, and is made rectangular in form, to enter into and fit snugly the rectangular opening 0 in the rear plate of the stove.
i is a damper in the reservoir-case, and i a damper-rod for operating the same. having its bearings in the vertical portions of the .k designates a fiuestrip beneath the reservoir-basin.
Z Z are notches cast in the tops of the end 5 plates of the reservoir, adapted to engage the flange m of the top plate of the stove, to hold the reservoir in place; or small hooks n n may be cast on the end plates of the reservoir-case, to engage projections o 0 on the stove plate or top.
In operation the reservoir-case, being attached properly to the stove, communicates with the return-flue of the stove. The damper, being turned down across the flue, will cause the draft to be turned under thereservoirbasin and around the flue-strip beneath the basin, thence to the front again into the return-flue, and out up the pipe, thereby effectually heating the water in the basin.
This detachable portable reservoir is prac tical, simple in construction, cheap, durable, and easy to attach or remove.
. Having thus fully described our invention,
what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The removable reservoir f, provided with the basin g and flange h, eirtending laterally in presence of two witnesses.
