' State of Maine, have invented a new and Improved Scaffolding-Bracket,of which the fol- .lowing is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved bracket for making scafiolding in rooms, on roofs of buildings, for erectframe provided with adj ustable cross-bars.

The links are then passed into suitable notches, b andl c, of the pieces A C, respectively, as shown in Fig. 1, a holding them at the desired inclination. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 the links F are united by two bars, 11, pivoted thereto. In the modification shown in Fig. 3 an elonend pieces of which rest in the notches b and 0, respectively. Adjustable cross-pieces K, provided with clamping-nuts L, are mounted to slide on the frame J, and can be locked in the desired position on the same. The pieces A G are to be braced by means of the frame .T. The clamping-bars K are placed against the inner sides of the pieces A O, and are clamped A very stiff scaffolding is thus 0 from spreading, and the cross-pieces K prevent them from folding together. By means of the above-described device various kinds of scaffolding, framing,staging, &c., can be easily and rapidly erected on flat and steep roofs, either at the peak, over thepeak, or at the eaves, upon a wall, in a room, &c. The bracket canalso be'used for erecting tem-. porary platforms in theaters for supporting scenery, and in all places where removable 9 scaffolding and staging are required. The bracket can be folded very compactly for transportation, and the scaffolding and staging can be erected without requiring any nailing, hammering, screwing, inserting of bolts, tightening of nuts, &c., and the bracket is so adj ustable that it can be used for a number of purposes.

I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination, with the piece A, provided with the notches a b, of the piece 0, pro- 5 vided with notches c, and of the U-shaped link D, pivoted to the upper end of the piece 0, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
2. The combination, with the piece A, pror0 vided with the slot B and with the notches a b, of the piece 0, provided with notches c, and of the link D, pivoted to the upper end of the piece 0 and passed through the slot B, substantially as herein shown and described, and I 5 for the purpose set forth.
3. The combination, with the notched pieces A C, adjustably hinged together, of a brace having links or loops engaging the notches of the said pieces, substantially as herein shown and described. 20
