2 Claims. (Cl. 46-242) This invention relates to an improved pistol holder and more particularly, but not by way of limitation, to a magnetic holder for a childs my gun or knife, and the like.
The present day interest of the public in western type adventure stories, in movies and television has created a great market in the toy industry for pistol and holster sets. In addition, the current development in modern science has provided a great interest in the possibilities of future space travel and has created a demand for futuristic type toy space guns or disintegrator ray gins, and the like.
With these and other advantages. in mind, the present invention contemplates a novel pistol holster or holder so designed and constructed to utilize the principles of magnetic attraction between metals for holding a pistol, gun, or toy knife, or the like, on a holster belt member. The magnet feature lends itself well to the western type toy pistols in that it permits a rapid removal of the gun from the holster to provide a faster draw for the child using the toy than is normally possible with the conventional gun holster available today. The novel magnetic holder member is also readily applicable to the futuristic type of toy gun design in that the radical difference of appearance and utilization between the new magnetic gun holder and the old conventional type gun holster is so great as to lend a futuristic appearance and action to the novel holder member. Furthermore, the toy space gun, or disintegrator ray gun itself may be made even more futuristic in appearance by the addition of the magnetic .iembers thereon for facilitating the securing of the gun to the gun holder member. In addition, the novel gun holder is simple in utilization and economical in construction.
It is an important object of this invention to provide a novel holder member for toy guns, and the like, so designed and constructed to lend itself to both western and futuristic type guns, and the like.
It is another object of this invention to provide a novel holster member for toy pistols, and the like, which is so designed and constructed to provide for a rapid removal of the pistol from the holster. 1
Another object of this invention is to provide a novel holder for toy guns and knives, and the like, which utilizes the magnetic force attraction between metallic materials for securing the gun to the holster member.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a novel gun holder which is simple and efficient in operation and economical and durable in construction.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be evident from the following detailed description, read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, which illustrate my invention.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a gun holster embodying the invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of a gun embodying the invention.
Figure 3 'is a perspective view of a knife holster embodying the invention.
Figure 4 is a side elevational view of a knife embodying the invention.
Figure 5 is a partial view on a reduced scale of the novel gun holster having a gun disposed thereon.
Referring to the drawings in detail, reference character 10 refers in general to a gun holster comprising a belt portion 12 having a suitable buckle member 14, or the like, for securing the belt around the body of a child or person. A gun holder member 16 is preferably slidably disposed on the belt member 12, but not limited thereto, and extends downwardly therefrom for receiving a suitable gun 18. The gun holder member 16 is preferably constructed from a suitable leather or fabric rn'aterial complementary to the belt portion 12, and is substantially flat and of a configuration complementary to the silhouette of the gun member 18 with which it is desired to use the holster 10, as clearly shown in Fig. l. A metallic plate member 26 is suitably secured to or embedded within the gun. holder member 16 in such a manner that at least one face thereof is exposed to receive the gun 18 thereagainst. A suitable outwardly extending flange or stop member 22 is provided at the lower end of the plate member 20 for limiting the downward movement of the gun 18 thereon in the event the gun slides on the plate during the utilization of the holster 10.
The pistol or gun 18 may be of any desired design, such as the futuristic type depicted in Figure 2, or a western type (not shown), or the like. The gun may be fabricated in any suitable manner and may be constructed of any suitable material such as plastic, metal, rubber, or the like. A pair of spaced magnets 24 and 26 are provided on at least one side of the gun 18, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. It will be apparent that a pair of similar magnets may be provided on both sides of the gun, if desired, thereby providing a gun which may be for either right or left handed operation.
The gun 18 may be secured to the holster 10 by merely placing the gun adjacent the holder member 16 whereby the magnets 24 and 26 are in contact with the metallic plate member 20. The attraction between the magnets and the plate member 20 securely retains the gun in position on the holder member 16.
During vigorous playing and running of the wearer, the gun may tend to slip downwardly on the plate member 20. The stop member 22 limits the downward move ment of the gun 18 and assures that the magnets 24 and 26 will not slip off the plate 20 to break the magnetic attraction force therebetween. It will be apparent that the belts 12 may be provided with two or more of the holder members 16 in order to hold a plurality of the guns 18, if desired.
In the case of a gun 18 of a metallic structure, it may be desirable to construct the plate 20from a magnetic material, or to provide a plurality of magnetized portions thereon. In this manner, the metal of the gun structure will be attracted by the magnetic properties of the plate 20 to secure or retain the gun on the holster 10, as hereinbefore set forth.
A plurality of spaced relatively small magnetized metallic strips 28 may be provided on the belt 12 to receive metallic bullets (not shown) and retain the bullets thereon, if desired. It will be apparent that the bullets may be magnetized, in lieu of the strip member 28, if desired, to provide the magnetic attraction therebetween.
Referring now to Fig. 3, a holster 30 is depicted comprising a belt member 32 similar to the belt 12. A knife scabbard portion or holder member 34 is preferably slidably secured to the belt member 32, but not limited thereto. The knife scabbard 34 is preferably constructed of a suitable leather or synthetic fabric complementary ably secured to the scabbard member 34 in such a manner that at least one face thereof is exposed to receive the knife 36 thereagainst.
The knife member 36 may be of any desired fabrication, or design, and may be constructed from any suitable material, such as rubber, or plastic, or the like. A suitable magnet member 40 is provided on the knife 36, and
may be suitably secured thereto or embedded therein.
The knife 36 may be secured to the knife holster 30 by placing the knife on the scabbard portion 34 adjacent the plate member 38. The magnetic attraction between the metallic plate member 38 and the magnet member 40 in the knife will retain the knife on holster member 30.
The knife is usually of a light weight construction, such that there will be substantially no tendency of the knife to slide downwardly on the scabbard. However, a stop member (not shown) similar to the stop member 22 may be provided on the lower end of the plate member 38, if desired.
From the foregoing, it will be apparent that the present invention provides a novel magnetic type gun holder so designed and constructed to receive and retain a gun or knife member, such as a childs toy, but not limited thereto. The novel holster member provides for a rapid removal of the gun therefrom for facilitating the utilization thereof and enhancing the efiiciency of the holster member. The holster member is simple and efiicient in operation and economical and durable in construction.
Changes may be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as heretofore set forth in the specification and shown in the drawings, it being understood that any modification in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of the following claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. A gun holster comprising a belt member, a gun holder member slidably disposed on the belt member, a gun, said gun holder member substantially flat and of a configuration complementary to the silhouette of the gun, a magnetic metallic plate member provided on the holder member, magnetic means provided on'the side of the gun for cooperating with the metallic plate member to retain the gun on the holder member and stop means projecting from the plate member for limiting downward sliding movement of the gun thereon.
. 2. A holster member for a toy gun, and comprising a belt member for securing the holster around the body of a person, a gun holder member of a configuration complementary to the gun extending downwardly from the belt member, a magnetic metallic plate member provided on the gun holder member and having at least one face thereof exposed to receive the gun thereagainst, magnetic means provided in the gun for retaining the gun adjacent the metallic plate member, and stop means extending from the plate member for limiting downward sliding movement of the gun thereon.
