Description

(No Model.) M J ENI G HEAD REST. No. 290,644.- Patented Dec. 18, 1883f Z Z ATTORNEYS- N. PETER5. PImm-Lmw nur. Washmllun. ILQ
Unrrnn STATES MAXIMILIAN J. KOENIG, OF JERSEY SHORE, PENNSYLVANIA.
HEAD- REST.
SPECTFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 290,644, dated December 18, 1883.
Application filed September 11, 1883. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it II'Z/bj/ concern.-
Be it known that I, MAXIMILIAN J. KOENIG, a citizen of the United States, residing at J ersey Shore, in the county of Lycoming and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Head-Rests, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has relation to improvements in portable headrests; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the same, all as will be hereinafter more fully explained, and particularly pointed out in the claim appended.
The annexed drawings, to which reference is made, fully illustrate my invention, in which Figure 1 represents a sideview of my device. Fig. 2 is a front view, and Fig. 3 is a rear view, of the head-board.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates an individual head rest'or support, consisting of the head-board a, which is cushioned on the front side, as at b, and upon which the head of a person is supported. On the rear face of said head board the same is provided with staples or loop-fastenings c, to receive the upper ends, 01 d, of the arms 6 e, which latter are bent at f f rearwardly and then downwardly, and are provided with hinged joints 9 9, while the lower ends are connected to one another by a strap, h, which serves to brace them. Above the joints aforesaid, on the arms, the same has secured thereto straps t t, which buckle with straps 70 7c, secured below the joints, to the arms, which straps pass over the wearers shoulders and serve to secure the head-rest to the body of a person.
It will be observed from the above description, and by reference to the annexed drawings, that my head-rest, when not in use, may be taken apart with ease and folded up, thus making it very convenient to the traveler, and the bend of the arms is such that it will bring the cushion in contact with the head, and at the same time it ischeap to manufacture.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a portable headrest, the combination of the head-board a, provided with the staples 0, adapted to receive the ends (1 of the-arms e, bent at f, and hinged at g, and having the strap 1', secured above said hinge, andthe strap 70, secured below the hinge on the arms e, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MAXIMILIAN J. KOENIG.
