UNITED STATES PATENT QEFICE.
WALTER R. POAGE, OF SHELBYVILLE, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR TO WILLIAM LAOEY \VILLARD,OF SAME PLACE.
BAG AND TWINE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 288,853, dated November 20, 1883.
Application filed April 30, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it map concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER R. POAGE, of Shelbyville, Shelby county, and State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Bag and Twine Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention consists of a ring, or it may be a disk, of wood or metal, as preferred, suspended by chains from a swivel, and having a series of horn shaped prongs projecting from it suitably for suspending paper bags, and also having a twine-holder suspended from the center by cross-arms, making a very simple and convenient device for supporting the bags and twine over the counter, where they can be procured in the most ready manner for the convenience of grocers and others with whom it is important to economize time for thedispatch of business, all ashereinafter fully described.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures. 25 Figure l is a perspective View of my improved bag and twine holder, and Fig. 2 is a section of the prong supporting ring and side elevation of one of the prongs.
I take a ring of metal, wood, or other material, as preferred, and of any approved size, and suspend it by, say, three chains, 2), from a swivel-hook, c, that may be connected to a cord, e, or any other support, the ring being free to be turned in the swivel. To the periphcry of the ring I connect as many horn-shaped prongs f, of steel or other approved material, as I prefer, for suspending the paper bags g by stringing them on the prongs, which are pointed and adapted for perforating the bags for the purpose. The prongs are made to 0 curve upward suitably for preventing the bags from slipping off from them, and they are preferably connected to the ring by screwing into it, but may be connected in any suitable Way. From the center of the ring I suspend 5 a twine-holder, h, of any approved form or kindby means of one or more cross-bars, 13, connected to the ring for the purpose, thus making a simple, cheap, and convenient device, which, by reason of its adaptation for being turned around on the swivel, enables the user to readily bring the bag of the size he wants to his reach. As many prongs will be used as there are different sizes of bags in use.
The prongs f may be straight, if preferred.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The improved bag and twine holder consisting of a prong and twine-holder support ing ring suspended from a swivelsupport, substantially as described.
2. The combination, in a bag and twine holder, of ring a, prongs f, suspending-chains b, and a swivel-hook, a, substantially as de scribed.
3. The combination, in a bag and twine holder, of the ring a, prongs f, twine-cup h,
suspending-chains i), anda swivel-hook, c, substantially as described.
