CIGAR-RACK FOR HATS.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 28,763, dated June 19, 1860.
T o all whom 'it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK J. MILLER, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented, made, and applied to use certain new and useful Improvements in Cigar-Racks for Hats; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making part of this specification, wherein- Figure 1 is a side view of my said improvement. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same.
Similar marks of reference denote the same parts in all the figures.
To enable others to make and use my said improved cigar rack I will proceed to describe the construction and operation of the same.
I form the body part a, of my cigar rack of wire, sheet brass or other suitable mate rial and place thereon any suitable number of clasps to hold the cigars when placed therein, and in order to fit and hold the rack in place I provide the spring c, on one end of the body piece a, and a shoulder ci, on the other end of the same. It will now be evident that when the said cigar rack is to be fitted to any sized hat, it is only necessary to take the same by the body piece a, and press the spring against the inside of the hat sufficiently to allow the shoulder d, to
Y slip down into place, and the position of the same in the top of the hat renders it very Various kinds of clasps might be placed on the body piece a., to hold the cigars, therefore I do not conne myself to any particular style, although I prefer and use the clasps b, in connection therewith.
The construction of my said clasps Z), renders it easier to place cigars therein or to remove them therefrom than any I have ever seen, and at the same time are not in the least liable to break or injure the same.
Having thus described my said invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. The cigar hat rack constructed and applied in substantially Vthe manner described and shown.
2. The clasps b, constructed and operating as set forth, when applied to a hat rack for cigars, for the purposes and as specified.
