The present invention relates to textile drawing mechanisms. I
More particularly, the present invention relates to the structure of textile drawing mechanisms associated with the top rolls thereof.
One of the objects'of the present invention is to provide an exceedingly simple and compact means for arranging on the elongated arm forming a top rolls carrier the carriers for the individual top rolls.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an equally simple and compact means for arranging on the elongated arm forming the top rolls carrier a carrier for clearer rolls.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a structure requiring very little material and space capable of supporting rolls on a top roll carrier in such a way that the rolls maybe shifted along the top rolls carrier in a very simple way.
An additional object of the present invention is to provide a top rolls carrier of the above type with a means which enables individual top roll carrying elements to be shifted along the carrier into an overlapping position with guides that are longer than the distance between the top rolls.
With the above objects in view the present invention mainly consists of a textile drawing mechanism which includes an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall anda pair of substantially planar side walls extending downwardly from the top wall when the channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of these side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with a guiding means in the form of a part of the side wall extending from a plane in the remainder of the side wall and provided with a surface directed toward one of the edges of the side wall. A support meanssupports the channel member adjacent an end thereof. for movement toward and away from an operating position, and a drawing mechanism element engages the channel member and has a pair of surfaces directed respectively toward the other edges of the side walls and respectively engaging the above-mentioned surfaces thereofso that the guiding means of the. channel member guides the drawing mech anism element on the channel member.
The novel features which are considered as characteristic for the invention are set forth in particular in the appended claims. The invention itself, however, both as to its construction and its method of operation, together with additional objects and advantages thereof, will be best understood from the following description of specific embodiments when read in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring now to Fig. 1, a frame 10 of the drawing mechanism carries a plurality of blocks 61, 62 and 63 which are slidably guided along the top surface of frame 10 in any known way so that these blocks may be positioned at desired locations along the drawing plane. The blocks 61, 62 and 63 turnably carry the bottom rolls 64, 65 and 66, respectively, and these bottom rolls extend across several of the drawing mechanisms. A rod 11 is fixed to the frame 10, in a manner not illustrated in the drawings, and not forming part of the present invention, and this rod 11 also extends across several drawing mechanisms which are arranged in side by side relation. A support 13 is provided with a pair of bottom free end portions extending about rod 11 and drawn toward each other into clamping engagement with rod 11 by a screw means 66, so that in this way a support 13 is fixed to the frame 10. The support 13 carries a pivot pin 14 on which a top rolls carrying frame 12 is turnable.
The top rolls carrier 12 is in the form of an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section, and the top end portion of support 13 extends between the side walls of the carrier 12, the pivot pin 14 extending beyond the opposite side faces of support 13 into suitable openings formed in the side walls of carrier 12, respectively. The top rolls carrier 12 is turnable from the operating position shown-in Fig. 1, where this carrier extends over the drawing plane, upwardly toan inoperative position about the pivot pin 14, and a lock member 20 is carried by the top rolls carrier 12. This lock member 20 extends about the carrier 12 and is provided at its bottom free end portion with a cross bar 201 which engages a projection 131 of the support 13 to lock the carrier, 12 in the operating position shown in Fig. l. In order to release the top rolls carrier 12 for movement to its inoperative position, it is only necessary to shift the lock member 20 to the left, as viewed in Fig. 1, or to turn the cross bar 201 to the left, as viewed in Fig. 1, so as to release carrier 12 from support 13 and thenthe carrier 12 may be turned upwardly to an inoperative position.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 1 and 2 each of the side walls 122 of the top rolls carrier 12 is formed with an elongated guide means 31 extending along the length of the carrier 12 and being parallel to the top wall thereof. This guide means 31 takes the form of a wall portion of each side wall 122 which is struck inwardly into the space between the side walls 122, in the manner shown most clearly in Fig. 2, to provide the carrier 12 with .free edges 124 in the interior of the carrier 12 respectively having top surfaces directed toward the top wall of the channel member 12.
Furthermore, the channel member 12 is pressed inwardly along its top side edges to provide projections 32 extending inwardly into the interior of the carrier 12 along the top wall thereof, and these projections 32 are located along lines which are parallel to each other and which are parallel to the free edges 124 of the inwardly struck side wall portions of the carrier 12. Thus, the carrier 12 is provided with a pair of lower guide portions assess-7 124 having guide surfaces directed toward the top wall of the carrier and with upper guide surfaces 321 formed by the projections 32 and arranged along the lines parallel to the surfaces of portions 124.
In the particular example illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 three top roll carrying members are supported on the top rolls carrier 12. Each roll carrier 15 is in the form of a channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section located within the channel 12 and having side walls respectively engaging the side Walls of channel member 12. The bottom edges of the side Walls of each roll carrier 15 respectively engage the top edges of the guide elements 124, and the upper side edges of each carrier 15 is in engagement with the guide surfaces 321 of a plurality of the inwardly extending projections Thus, these projections and the edges 124 serve as means for mounting the carriers 15 and for guiding them for shifting movement along the length of the carrier As is evident from Figs. 1 and 2, a pair of plates 67 are riveted to the side walls of each carrier 15, respectively, and at their bottom free ends each pair of plates 67 carries a pin 16 on which and arm 17 is freely turnable, this arm 17 having fixed to its left free end, as viewed in Fig. l, a saddle 18 extending downwardly about the shaft 68 of a top roll. A spring 22 has its opposite ends fixed to the top wall of each carrier 15 and to the arm 17 therebeneath so that each spring 22 urges a top roll toward a corresponding bottom roll, and at the same time when the arm 12 is turned upwardly to an inoperative position the spring 22 because it is fixed to the carrier 15 and arm 17 limits the extent to which the latter can turn away from the carrier 15. A leaf spring 181 is fixed to each saddle 18 and engages a shaft of the top roll associated therewith in a known way.
Thus, it is evident that when for any reason the bottom rolls 64-66 are shifted, it is a simple matter to shift the top rolls 23, 19, and 24 to positions where they respectively engage the bottom rolls in the manner shown in Fig. 1 by shifting the roll carriers 15 along the guides formed by elements 124 and 32.
In order to fix the carriers 15 releasably in a desired position, the top Wall of the channel member 12 is formed with threaded bores into which screw members 25 threadedly extend. The number of screw members 25 correspond to the number of carriers 15, and the screw members 25 have enlarged bottom ends engaging the top surfaces of the carriers 15, respectively. Thus, it is a simple matter with a screw driver to loosen the screw members 25 so as to free the carrier 15 for shifting movement and then to turn the bottom enlarged ends of these screw members respectively against the carriers 15 so as to fix the latter in the position along the top roll carrying frame 12.
Figs. 1 and 2 also illustrate the clearer rollers 29 engaging the top rolls, respectively, and clearer roller carriers 26 are provided to support the clearer rollers. The clearer roller carriers 26 are in the form of channel members of U-shaped cross section, and each member 26 extends partly about the top rolls carrier 12. It will. be noted that the inwardly struck portions 31 of the side walls 12?. provide the latter with downwardly directed free edges, and the inner surfaces of the side walls of each carrier 26 are respectively provided with projections 263 which engage the downwardly directed free edges of the side walls 122 which are formed by the inwardly struck portions 31. A screw member 77 threadedly engages the top wall of each member 26 and i turned downwardly against the top surface of the carrier 12, each screw member 77 having a bottom enlarged end engaging carrier 12, so that in this way the screw member 77 serves to maintain the projections 263 respectively against the downwardly directed surfaces of the side walls 122. Upon loosening of the screw member '77. it is a simple matter to shift the clearer roller carriers 26 to a desired position, and Where they are located over the screws 25, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, it is of course necessary to shift the carriers 26 to obtain access to the screw members 25.
Each clearer roller carrier 26 is provided in each side wall thereof with openings 76. Each of these openings is formed in part by a pair of tongues 261 and 262 struck outwardly from each side wall of each carrier 26. Each clearer roller 25 is provided at its opposite ends with a pair of shaft portions 69 rigid with each clearer roller 29, and each of these clearer rollers 29 is located between a pair of the arms 12. of a pair of drawing mechanisms arranged in side by side relation. Thus, the shaft 69 at one end of each clearer roller 29 extends into the opening 76 in the side wall of a clearer roller carrier 26 located on one arm 12 while the opposite shaft 69 extends into the opening '76 of the carrier 26 on the next arm 12, and in this way the clearer rolls 29 are supported, the tongues 261 and 262 being inclined as shown in Fig. 1 so that the clearer rolls are maintained by gravity in engagement with the top rolls while being arranged slightly to one side thereof.
According to the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the guide means which engages the bottom free edges of the channel members 15 is formed by a plurality of inwardly struck portions 412 of the side walls of the top rolls carrier 47 shown in Figs. 3 and 4, this top rolls carrier 47 being a channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section and being supported on the apparatus in the same way as the carrier 12 in Figs. 1 and 2. The inwardly struck portions 412 are arranged along parallel lines which are parallel to the drawing plane, as is particularly evident from Fig. 4, and these inwardly struck portions 412 having free top edges which engage the bottom free edges of the members 15 to guide the latter.
The channel member 47 is further formed adjacent its top wall with a plurality of inwardly struck portions 42 having bottom free edges directed downwardly away from the top wall of channel member 47, and these bottom free edges engage the top side edges of the carrier 15. Thus, the guide means 41 (Fig. 4) formed by the inwardly struck portions 412 and the guide means formed by the downwardly directed free edges of the inwardly struck portions 42 engage the carriers 15 for guiding the latter, the carrier 15 being shown in Fig. 3 only with the plates 67 and pin 16 for the sake of clarity. A screw member 25 is provided in the embodiment of Figs. 3 and 4 in the same way as in the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 2 for releasably fixing each carrier 15 in a de sired position along the channel member 47.
The clearerroller carriers 43 of the embodiment of Figs. 3 and 4 take the form of members of substantially U-shaped cross section which also extend partly about the channel member 47. The channel member 47 is formed just above the inwardly struck portions 412 with outwardly struck portions 411, respectively, and these outwardly struck portions 411 are provided with downwardly extending free edges'which extend into grooves 472 respectively formed in the inner side surfaces of the side walls of each clearer roller carrier 43. Furthermore, the top wall of each clearer roller carrier 43 has fixed to its inner face a leaf spring 45 which engages the top surface of the carrier 47 to urge the clearer roller carrier 43 upwardly away from the top rolls carrier 47, and in this way the bottom faces of the grooves 472. are maintained in engagement with the bottom free edges of the outwardly struck portions 411. With the embodiments of Figs. 3 and 4 it is thus only necessary to shift the clearer roller carrier 43 to a desired location whenever desired, and the spring 4-5 will maintain the carrier 43 in its adjusted location.
Each clearer roller carrier 43 is provided with openings corresponding to the openings 76 and with outwardly struck tongues 471 corresponding to the tongues Z62 so that the carriers 43 may carry clearer rolls in the same way as the carriers 26. v I
The embodiment of Figs; 5 and 6 is providedwith a top rolls carrier 50 corresponding to carrier 12 and provided with elongated inwardly struck portions 53 substantially identical with the elongated inwardly struck portions 124 of Figs. 1 and 2 and cooperating in the same way with each top roll carrier 15, the'latter'carriers not being illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6 for the sakeof clarity. Adjacent its top wall the top rolls carrier 50 is provided in its side walls with a plurality of recesses 51 arranged as indicated in Fig. 6. These depressions 51 are formed by pressing the material of the carrier 50 outwardly so as to provide at the exterior of carrier 50 adjacent its top side edges and in its sidewalls a plurality of projections. The clearer roller carriers 52, one of which is shown in Figs. 5 and 6, is formed at the inner side surfaces of its side walls with depressions into which the projections formed by depressions 51 respectively extend. Thus, with the embodiment of Figs. 5 and 6 the depressions of the clearer roller carrier and the projections of the top rolls carrier cooperate with each other to position as well as fix the clearer roller carrier on the top rolls carrier. Each clearer roller carrier 52 is made of a springy sheet metal so that its side walls may be spread apart from each other so as to release the clearer roller carrier 52 from the top rolls carrier 50 for movement therealong to a desired location where different projections of carrier 50 are located in the depressions of the clearer roller 52.
Each clearer roller 52 is provided in the same way as the above-described clearer rollers with openings 76 formed in part by outwardly struck members 521 which correspond to the tongues 261 and 262 which cooperate in the same way with the shaft portions 69 of the clearer rollers. v
Fig. 7 illustrates a further embodiment of the invention according to which the top rolls carrier 70, corresponding to top rolls carrier 12, is provided with elongated outwardly pressed portions in its side walls, respectively, so as to provide at the inner surfaces of the side walls of the carrier 70 an upper pair of elo'ngated grooves 71 extending parallel to the drawing plane when carrier 70 is 'in its operating position, and a lower pair of parallel grooves 72 which are parallel to the grooves 71. Fig. 7 further shows a pair of top roll carriers 73 and 74 respectively corresponding to the top r'oll carriers 15. Of course, the top roll carrier 73 is provided with longer plates 67 than the top roll carrier 74 so thatthe pins 16 carried by members 73 and 74 are located at the same elevation. The pair of grooves 72 in addition to being located at a lower elevation than the pair of grooves 71 overlap the latter grooves, and the grooves 71 and 72 are longer than the distance between the top rolls. Thus, it is possible to shift the carriers 73 and 74 along the arm 70 to a position where members 73 and 74 overlap each other and thus a much longer guiding path is provided with the embodiment of Fig. 7 than with the other embodiments. The side walls of carrier 73 are bent outwardly at their bottom edges to extend respectively into the grooves 71 so that carrier 73 is guided by grooves 71 in this way, and the lower carrier 74 is outwardly bent at its bottom free edges and extends into the grooves 72, respectively, so as to be guided by these latter grooves.
A clearer roller carrier 75 is shown in Fig. 7 to be a channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section, and this carrier 75 extends partly about the carrier 70. The clearer roller carrier 75, in addition to being provided with openings 76 and tongues 751 identical with the above-described openings 76 and tongues 261 and 262, is formed at the inner surfaces of its side walls with grooves into which the ribs formed at the outer side surfaces of carrier70 by grooves 71 extend. In other words, all of the above-described carrier elements are made of sheet metal, and in the case of Fig. 7 the grooves 71 are formed by pressing this sheet metal. As a result when grooves 71' are formed on the inner surface of carrier 70 corresponding ribs are formed on the outer surface thereof, and these ribs extend respectively into grooves formed on the inner surface of the clearer roller carrier 75. Thus, these ribs guide the clearer roller carrier 75 for movement along the top rolls carrier 70 and the friction between these parts is sufiicient to maintain the clearer roller carrier 75 in whatever position it has been shifted to on the top rolls carrier 70. It will be noted that with the embodiment of Fig. 7 there are in reality groups of projections on one face of the elements formed by grooves on theother face thereof, and these projections and grooves are in nesting relationship with each other. I
It will be noted from the above-described structure that the top rolls carrying arm is free of any inwardly extending flanges at its bottom edges and is free of any slots through which screws extend to fix the individual roll carriers in a desired position. The structure is exceedingly simple since it is for the most part made from the material of the top rolls carriers itself, and furthermore this structure consumes but very little space both vertically and laterally, which is of particular significance where groups of drawing mechanisms of the type described above are arranged one above another as well as beside each other.
It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together, may also find a useful application in other types of drawing mechanisms differing from the types described above.
While the invention has been illustrated and described as embodied in textile drawing mechanisms, it is not intended to be limited to the details shown, since various modifications and structural changes may be made without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
Without further analysis, the foregoing will so fully reveal the gist of the present invention that others can by applying current knowledge readily adapt it for various applications without omitting features that, from the standpoint of prior art, fairly constitute essential characteristics of the generic or specific aspects of this invention and, therefore, such adaptations should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalence of the following claims.
What is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
1. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross-section forming a toprolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls respectively located in a pair of given planes and extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel member 1s in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with a guiding means in the form of part of said side wall extending from said given plane thereof and provided with a surface directed toward one of said edges of said side wall; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; and a drawing mechanism element engaging said channel member and having a pair of surfaces directed respect vely toward the other edges of said side walls and respectively engaging said surfaces thereof so that said guiding means of said channel'member guides said element on said channel member.
2. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross-section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls respectively located in a pair of given planes and extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel neme V g gar/ a bet is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with a guiding means in the form of part of said side wall extending from said given plane thereof and provided with a surface directed toward one of said edges of said side wall; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; and a roll carrying channel member also of substantially U-shaped section, one of said channel members extending at least partly around the other of said channel members, and said roll carrying member having a pair of surfaces respectively directed toward the other edges of said side walls of said top rolls carrier and respectively engaging said surfaces of said side walls of said top rolis carrier so that said guiding means guides said roll carrying ill-'11]!- ber on said top rolls carrier.
3. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross-section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls respectively located in a pair of given planes and extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with a guiding means in the form of part of said side wall extending from said given plane thereof and provided with a surface directed toward one of said edges of said side wall; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; a roll carrying channel member also of substantially U-shaped section, one of said channel members extending at least partly around the other of said channel members, and said roll carrying member having a pair of surfaces respectively directed toward the other edges of said side walls of said top rolls carrier and respectively engaging said surfaces of said side walls of said top rolls carrier so that said guiding means guides said roll carrying member on said top rolls carrier; and means engaging both of said members for releasably fixing said roll carrying member in a predetermined position along said top rolls carrier.
4. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross-section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with a pair of guide means in the form of parts of said side wall extending outwardly from the space between said side walls and each guide means being provided with a surface directed toward said top wall of said channel member, said pair of guide means of said side walls extending along the length thereof, overlapping each other, and being located at ditferent elevations; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; and a pair of roll carrying members overlapping each. other in one position thereof, located within said channel member, and having outwardly extending portions, said pair of roll carrying members respectively engaging with said outwardly extending portions thereof said pair of guide means.
5. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross-section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls extending downwardly fro-m said top wall when said channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with an elongated portion extending along the length of said side wall, bent inwardly into the space between said side walls and providing in the interior of said channel member a guide surface directed toward said top wall of said channel member, said guide surfaces being substantially parallel to each other; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; and a roll carrying member located at least in part in the interior of said channel member between said top wall of said channel member and said elongated portions thereof and having a pair of guide surfaces directed away from said top wall and engaging said guide surfaces of said elongated portions, respectively.
6. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross-section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with an elongated portion extending along the length of said side wall, bent inwardly into the space between said side walls and providing in the interior of said channel member an inner guide surface directed toward said top wall of said channel member and at the exterior of the latter a downwardly directed outer guide surface, said guide surfaces being substantially parallel to each other; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; a top roll carrying member located at least in part in the interior of said channel member between said top wall of said channel member and said elongated portions thereof and having a pair of guide surfaces directed away from said top wall and engaging said inner guide surfaces of said elongated portions, respectively; and a clearer roll carrying member located at least partly about said channel member and having, in the operating position of the latter, upwardly directed guide surfaces respectively engaging said downwardly directed outer guide surfaces of said channel member.
7. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with an elongated portion extending along the length of said side wall, and bent inwardly into the space between said side walls to provide in the interior of said channel member along the free edge of said inwardly struck elongated portion a guide surface directed toward said top wall of said channel member, said guide surfaces being substantially parallel to each other; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement to ward and away from said operating position; and a roll carrying member located at least in part in the interior of said channel member between said top wall of said channel member and said elongated portions thereof and having a pair of guide surfaces directed away from said top wall and engaging said guide surfaces of said elongated portions, respectively.
8. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross-section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with an elongated portion extending along the length of said side wall, and bent inwardly into the space between said side walls to provide in the interior of said channel member along the free edge of said inwardly struck elongated portion a"g ui de'surface directed toward said top wall ofsaid channel member and at' the exterior of the latter a free edge providing a downwardly directed outer guide surface, said guide surfaces being substantially parallel to each other; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof formovement toward and away from said operating position; a top roll carrying member located" at least in part in the interior of said channel member between said top wall of said channel member and said elongated portions thereof and having a pair of guide surfaces directed away from said top Wall and engaging saidinner guide surfaces of said elongated portions, respectively; and a clearer roll carrying member located at least partly around said channel member and having, in the operating position of the latter,- upwardly directed guide surfaces respectively engaging said -outerdownwardlydirected guide surfaces otsaid channel member.
9."In a drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and extending over the drawing plane in an :operating position of said carrier where the side walls of said channel member extending downwardly from the top wall thereof, each of said side walls being provided along a pair of substantially parallel lines at diiferent elevations extending along the length of said side wall with a plurality of side wall portions bent inwardly into the space between said side walls, the inwardly struck portions along the line nearest said top wall having free edges directed away from said top wall and the inwardly struck portions along the line furthest from said top wall having free edges directed toward the latter; and a roll carrier channel member located within said top rolls carrier and having a pair of side walls respectively engaging the inner surfaces of the side walls of said top rolls carrier, said side walls of said roll carrier extending between and engaging the inwardly struck portions extending along said lines so that said roll carrier is carried and guided by said inwardly bent portions.
10. In a drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and extending over the drawing plane in an operating position of said carrier where the side walls of said channel member extend downwardly from the top wall thereof, each of said side walls being provided along the length thereof with a plurality of side wall portions bent outwardly from the space between said side walls and provided with free edges directed away from said top wall; and a clearer roll carrier in the form of a channel of substantially U- shaped cross section extending at least partly about said top rolls carrier at the exterior thereof and having inner side faces respectively provided with surfaces directed toward said top wall and engaging the outwardly bent portions of the two side wallsof said top rolls carrier, respectively.
11. In a drawing mechanism, in combination, an
elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and extending over the drawing plane in an operating position of said carrier where the side walls of said channel member extend downwardly from the top Wall thereof, each of said side walls being provided along the length thereof with a plurality of projections located at the exterior of said carrier; and a clearer roll carrier of substantially U- shaped cross-section extending at least partly about said top rolls carrier and having an inner side face formed with recesses into which at least some of said projections respectively extend to releasably attach said clearer roll carrier to said top rolls carrier.
12. In a drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of sustantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and extending over where the side walls of said the drawing plane in an operating position of said carrier channel member extend downwardly from thefltop wall thereof, each of said side walls being provided along the length thereof with a plurality of projectings located at the exterior of said carrier and formed by outwardly pressed portions of said side walls; and a-clear'er roll carrier of substantially U- shaped cross-section extending at least partly about said top rolls carrier and having inner side faces formed with recesses into which at least some of said projectionsrespectively extend to releasably attach'said clearer roll carrier to said top rolls carrier.
13. In a drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and extending over the drawing plane in an operating position of said carrier where the side walls of said channel member extend downwardly from the top wall thereof, each of said side walls being formed at its inner surface with a pair of elongated substantially parallel grooves extending along the length of said side walls respectively at different elevations and at least partly overlapping each other; a firstroll carrier located within said channel member and having outwardly directed ribs respectively located within one of the pair of grooves at one elevation; and a second roll carrier located within said channel member and having outwardly directed ribs respectively located within the other of the pair of grooves at the other elevation.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, first channel means of substantially U-shaped cross section having a pair of side walls and forming a top rolls carrier; second channel means composed of a pair of roll carriers located within said first channel means respectively at different elevations and each having a pair of side walls engaging'said sidewalls of said first channel means, the side walls of one of said channel means having ribs respectively extending along the length thereof and the side walls of the other of said channel means formed with grooves extending along the length thereof and into which said ribs respectively extend so that said carriers of said second channel means are movable along said first channel means, said grooves being arranged in pairs respectively located at said elevations and overlapping each other so that said channel members of said second channel means may overlap each other.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, a top rolls carrier in the form of an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section having a pair of side walls; a clearer roll carrier of substantially U-shaped cross section extending at least partly about said top rolls carrier and having side walls respectively engaging said side walls of said top rolls carrier, the side walls of one of said carriers being formed with grooves extending along the length thereof and the side walls of the other of said carriers being formed with ribs extending into said grooves so that said clearer roll carrier may be guided along said top rolls carrier to a predetermined position.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, a top rolls carrier in the form of an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section having a pair of said walls; an inner roll carrier of substantially U-shaped cross section located within said top rolls carrier and having side walls respectively engaging the inner surfaces of the side walls of said top rolls carrier; and an outer roll carrier of substantially U-shaped cross section extending at least partly about said top rolls carrier and having apair of side walls respectively engaging the outer surfaces of said side walls of said top rolls carrier, the side walls of the latter and one of said roll carriers being formed with elongated portions pressed from said side walls, extending along the length thereof, and forming on one face of each side ill wall a groove and on the opposite face thereof a rib, and the elongated portions of each pair of engaging side walls of said top rolls carrier and said one roll carrier nesting in each other, and the other of said roll carriers being provided with a pair of elongated portions at its side walls, respectively, bent from said latter side walls and nesting with said elongated portions of said side walls of said top rolls carrier, respectively.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially J-shapecl cross section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls respectively located in a pair of given planes and extending downwardly from said top wall when P channel member is in an operating position extent over the drawing plane, each of said side walls benig provided between its top and bottom edges with a guiding means in the form of part of said side wall extending from said given plane thereof and provided with a surface directed toward one of said edges of said side wall; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; a roll carrying channel member also of substantially U-shaped section, one
of said channel members extending at least partly around the other of said channel members, and said roll carrying member having a pair of surfaces respectively directed toward the other edges of said side walls of said top rolls carrier and respectively engaging said surfaces of said side walls of said top rolls carrier so that said guiding means guides said roll carrying member on said top rolls carrier; and leaf spring means engaging both of said members for releasably fixing said roll carrying member in a predetermined position along said top rolls carrier.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, an elongated channel member of substantially U-shaped cross section forming a top rolls carrier and having a top wall and a pair of substantially planar side walls respectively located in a pair of given planes and extending downwardly from said top wall when said channel member is in an operating position extending over the drawing plane, each of said side walls being provided between its top and bottom edges with a guiding means in the form of part of said side wall extending from said given plane thereof and provided with a surface directed toward one of said edges of said side wall; support means supporting said channel member adjacent an end thereof for movement toward and away from said operating position; a roll carrying channel member also of substantially U-shaped section, one of said channel members extending at least partly around the other of said channel members, and said roll carrying member having a pair of surfaces respectively directed toward the other edges of said side walls of said top rolls carrier and respectively engaging said surfaces of said side walls of said top rolls carrier so that said guiding means guides said roll carrying member on said top rolls carrier; and screw means carried by one of said members and engaging the other of said members for releasably fixing said roll carrying member in a predetermined position along said top rolls carrier.
