I EYEBROW FORM Filed April 12, 1957 INVENTOR.

1 Claim. (Cl. 132-83.5)
This invention relates to a form that is adapted to be adhesively applied to an eyebrow, in a manner to leave exposed, about the periphery of the form, unwanted hair, that is to be plucked for the purpose of properly shaping the eyebrows.
The proper shaping of the eyebrows is of course important in improving a ladys appearance to the maximum extent possible. In this connection, it is often diflicult to shape the eyebrow properly, during the plucking thereof, and in many instances mistakes may be made, as a result of which gaps appear in the eyebrow, producing a rather unsightly appearance. Still further, it is difficult to shape both eyebrows identically but oppositely, and as a result, one eyebrow may be slightly larger than, or shaped differently from, the other. Then again, one or more edges may be left ragged. This also contributes to an unattractive appearance of the eyebrows.
In view of the above, the main object of the present invention is to provide an improved form, which can be adhesively applied to the brow to facilitate the proper shaping thereof.
A further object is to provide an eyebrow form of the character stated that will be adapted to be readily cut to any desired shape or size, so that it can be made up to suit the taste of the particular user.
A further object is to provide an eyebrow form which, though being readily adapted to be made up in a particular shape and size, will still be capable of manufacture at a very low cost.
Still another object is to provide an eyebrow form which will effectively conceal all portions of the eyebrow that are to remain after the plucking operation, so that said portions will not be accidentally removed during said operation.
A further object is to provide a form as described which will leave exposed, around the edge thereof, only the unwanted hairs, so that they will be, in effect, completely segregated from the portion that is to remain and can be removed easily and swiftly.
Still another object is to provide an eyebrow form as described which will be so designed as to insure maximum accuracy in the eyebrow-plucking operation, with both eyebrows being shaped identically and oppositely to each other.
Other objects will appear from the following description, the claim appended thereto, and from the annexed drawing, in which like reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a view showing the forms as they appear when in use;
Figure 2 is an elevational view, an an enlarged scale, of a set of the forms, one of the forms being illustrated in a partially separated condition; and
Figure 3 is an enlarged transverse sectional view on line 3--3 of Figure 2.
2,842,142 Patented July 8, 1958 Referring to the drawings in detail, the forms constituting the invention have been generally designated 10, and are used in sets, with two oppositely but identically shaped forms comprising each set. As will be noted, the forms would be shaped accordingto the desires of the particular user, that is, the user would decide upon the shape and size of the eyebrow desired, after which a large number of sets can be cut out to order. All the various forms of a plurality of the sets can be cut from a single sheet, as will be understood, at the time of purchase, after a pattern or template has been made by the salesperson for the prospective purchaser.
In any event, each form includes a fiat, flexible, elongated body 12 one end of which is comparatively wide and rounded, said body tapering gradually toward its other end 14, the wider end being designated at 16 and the body having a back surface coated with adhesive as shown in Figure 2.
Covering the adhesive is a protective strip 18, which can be pulled ofiat the time the form is to be used, to expose the adhesive.
The forms are then applied, in the position shown in Figure 1, and will adhere to the portion of the eyebrow that is to remain after the plucking operation. In other words, around the edge of the form, unwanted hairs will appear as shown at 20, and these would be removed by means of an ordinary eyebrow tweezer 22.
When all the exposed hairs 20 have been pulled out, the form is removed from the eyebrow. The result will be that the eyebrow will be in the exact shape of the form, thus providing for swift and accurate shaping of the eyebrows. After a single use, the forms can be discarded, in view of the very low cost thereof.
It is believed apparent that the invention is not necessarily confined to the specific use or uses thereof described above, since it may be'utilized for any purpose to which it may be suited. Nor is the invention to be necessarily limited to the specific construction illustrated and described, since such construction is only intended to be illustrative of the principles of operation and the means presently devised to carry out said principles, it being considered that the invention comprehends any minor change in construction that may be permitted Within the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:
As a new article of manufacture to be used as an aid in the plucking of ones eyebrows, an eyebrow form for covering that portion of an eyebrow that is to remain after plucking thereof while leaving exposed the eyebrow portion that is to be plucked, comprising: an elongated length of material slightly smaller than but having the shape of a human eyebrow and flexible over its entire area to a degree permitting the same to lie in contact, over said entire area thereof, with a human eyebrow, said length of material being of a thinness throughout its periphery, sufiicient to permit ready grasping and plucking of small hairs growing in the exposed portion of the eyebrow in close proximity to said periphery; and an adhesive on the eyebrow-contacting surface of said length of material.
