CHARLES E. SKINNER, OF YONKERS, NEWT YORK.
BLACKING-Box HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 283,428, dated August 21, 1883.
i i Application filed December 9, IEZ. (No model.) I
To ralf, roh/ont t hefty concern,.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. SKINNER, a eitizen of the lUnited States, residing in the city of Yonkers, in the county of W'estohester i 5 and State of New York, have invented certain 15 of blaeking-boxes, and to prevent soiling the` fingers when using the saine. 4
Figure l shows an elevation, and Fig. 2 a plan View, of the holder.
A, the plate that forms the handle, is di- 2o vided into tivo branches, a. and o', the latter having a lug, b, east on one side. These form the back on which the box rests. ois another lug Gast on the handle, on one side of which are the catches e e. Atd a hole is drilled to 25 receive one end of the Circular wire clasp B. The other end of the Wire is doubled. over the lug` o, at f and g, (thus preventing its spring; ing np,) and engages with the catches e e.
The operation of inserting the box is as follows: The Wire B is slipped over the lng b and 3 turned to the right till it is in the position shown in the dotted lines in Fig. 2. This movement expands the oirole, so that the box A can easily be inserted. The Wire and box are then pushed back till the rim of the box presses 3 against the lng o, when the Wire is sprung over the lug b, holding the box :tirinlyin place.
It Will be seen that byaltering the position oi' the hook f in the catches e e the oirele will be made larger or smaller, as required, to suit 4 different-sized boxes. n
Having thus described my invention, what I olaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a holder for blaeking-boxes, the back A, 4 in combination With the adjustable Wire clasp B, the lugs b and o, and the catches e e, sub stantia-lly as described.
CHARLES E. SKINNER.
