UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIC JONAS TAR EUsH LEE, OF TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA.
"MOP-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 283,121, dated August 14, 1888.
' Application filed December 21, lee-2. (Model) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J oNAs T. -]3. LEE, of Toronto, in the county of York and Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada, have invented a new and Improved lVIop-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved device for holding a mop.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all thefigures.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal view of my improved mop-holder, showingthe'same attached to a handle, and showing the manner in which A it holds the mop. Fig. 2'is a longitudinal elevation of the same, showing it opened. Fig. 3 is an end elevation of the same, showing it closed.
A bar, A, is provided it its middle with a prong, B, adapted to be driven into the end of the handle 0, and to one end of the bar Aanother bar, D, is hinged by means of links I,
pivoted to the ends of the bars A and D.
The bar A is provided in its upper edge, at the end opposite the'one to which thebar D is pivoted, with a recess, a, for receiving adisk,
, E, provided with a handle, F, and pivoted eocentrically to links G, pivoted to the free end of the bar D. The mop H is placed on the upper edge of the bar D, which is then swung up against the under edge of the bar A, and
the links G are passed over the end of the bar A, which is then between the links G. The
handle F is turned down on the upper edge of A the bar A, whereby the eccentric disk'E presses the edges of the bars A and D against each other, thereby holding the mop firmly between A the said bars.
The mop can be secured to the holder or removed from the same very easily and rapidly. In place of the links G and the eccentric disk E, any other locking device-for instance,
such as a screw and nut-can be used.
I am aware that the handle has been pro vided with a cross head, to one end of which is pivoted a clamp-bar, and to the clamp-bar is pivoted an elbow-lever; but i What I claim as new is i 1. The bar A and clamp-bar D, connected at one end by a pivoted link, I, in combination with the links G and the cam-lever E F, to allow them to fold with their faces close together, whereby they may hold the mop-rag without teeth or serrations, as described.
2. In a mop-holder, the combination, with the bars A and D, of the links I, pivoted to cess, a, of the links I, pivoted to the bars A and D, the links G, pivoted to the bar 1), and
the disk E, pivoted eocentrically to the links G, substantially as herein shown and described,
and for the purpose set forth.
