The present invention relates to a'strap or belt having a two-part buckle for use in the *connectionzwith garments, such' as skirts and the like.

It i s a prime object of theinventionto provide a: strap or belt of the above-mentioned type in which the strap and buckle are of the same width and wherein the buckle parts co-operating with the ends of the strap are of such construction that there will be no undesirable bulging of the strap even at these particular points. Any compressing or pinching caused by the strap when worn, e. g. during particular movements of the wearer such as bowing or the like, from buckles projecting beyond the strap is effectively prevented.

For this purpose the strap with two-part buckle according to the present invention is characterized in that the two parts of the buckle are constituted by frames adapted to be hooked into one another, the width of these frames being not greater than the width of the strap, the ends of the latter being each slung in the form of a loop about a web of the associated frame, the inner width of both frames being in the vicinity of the mentioned web, chosen such that the strap, compressed laterally at this point with respect to its width cannot constitute a bulge and can re-extend to its full width still Within the length of the frame.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the description now to follow, of a preferred embodiment thereof given by way of example and in which reference will be made to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of the strap with the buckle opened, and

Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1 with the buckle parts hooked-in.

In the drawings reference numeral 1 designates a strap for a skirt or like garment to each end of which is secured parts A and B respectively, of a two-part buckle. The buckle part A is constituted as a frame having double bent side portions 2 and parallel webs 3, 4 as shown in Fig. 1. The end of the strap 1 associated with this buckle part A is slung about the web 3 in form of a closed loop 1a. The buckle part B is also constituted as a frame having straight lateral portions 5 and two parallel webs 6, 7 (Fig. l). The end of the strap 1 associated to this buckle part B is slung about the web 6 of buckle part B in form of a closed loop 1a. The web 7 of buckle part B is bent to form a hook 8 adapted to co-operate with the web 4 of buckle part A.

As visible from Fig. l the buckle parts A and B and also the strap 1 are all of equal width. This equal width throughout the strap and buckle may be obtained in practice only inasmuch as any undesirable bulging of the strap at the connection point between strap end and buckle is prevented. For this purpose the inner width of the buckle parts A and B must be slightly smaller only, in the vicinity of the

It is to be understood that these recesses 9 may also extend over a larger portion of the length of the

frame portions

2 and 5, respectively. The depth of the recesses is thereby chosen as great as is possible without undue weakening of the buckle.

Due to the slight double bending of the side portions of the buckle part A, a relatively flat buckle is attained which, in closed position, and in consideration of the curves of the body or the waist, at least approximately lies in the plane of the strap without interfering projections.

As further the webs 3, 4 enclosed by the strap ends are relatively broad and fiat these webs and thus the buckle parts A, B cannot turn in the loops 1a of the strap.

I claim:

1. A belt or skirt strap comprising a woven strap and a two-part buckle, each of said buckle parts being associated with one end of the strap and consisting of a frame formed of flat sheet material having two webs extending cross-wise with respect to the strap and two side portions extending lengthwise of the strap and connecting the ends of said webs, the outer width of said frames being not greater than the width of the strap andthe ends of the latter each being slung in form of a closed loop about one of said webs of the associated frame, said side portionsbeing provided, in the vicinity of the web enclosed by the strap end, with recesses for locking the strap and increasing the inner width of each frame to such an extent that the strap laterally compressed at this point does not form a bulge and re-extends to its full width still within the length of the associated frames and means provided on said frames for permitting their hooking into one another.

2. A belt or skirt strap comprising a woven strap and a two-part buckle, each of said buckle parts being formed of flat sheet material, one of said buckle parts consisting of a frame having two parallel webs extending cross-wise with respect to the strap and two straight side portions connecting the ends of said webs and extending lengthwise with respect to the strap, and the other of said buckle parts consisting of a frame having two parallel webs extending cross-wise with respect to the straps and side portions having double bends connecting the ends of said webs and extending lengthwise with respect to the strap, and means provided on said frames for permitting their hooking into one another to constitute a fiat formation approximately lying in the plane of the strap and against the body of the wearer, the outer width of said frames being not greater than the width of the strap and the ends of the latter each being slung in form of a closed loop about one of said webs of the associated frame, said side portions being provided, in the vicinity of the web enclosed by the strap end, with recesses for locking the strap and increasing the inner width of each frame to such an extent that the strap laterally compressed at this point does not form a bulge and re-extends toits full width still within the length of the associated frame.

3. A belt or skirt strap comprising a woven strap and a two-part buckle, each of said buckle parts being formed of fiat sheet material, one of said buckle parts consisting of a frame having two parallel webs extending cross-wise with respect to the strap and two straight side portions connecting the ends of said webs and extending lengthwise with respect to the strap, and the other of said buckle parts consisting of a frame having two parallel webs extending cross-wise with respect to the straps and side portions having double bends connecting the ends 15 of said'webs and extending lengthwise with respect to the strap, and means provided on said frames for permitting their hooking into one another to constitute a fiat formation approximately lying in the plane of the strap and against the body of the wearer, the width of said frames being not greater than the width of the strap and the ends of the latter each being slung in form of a closed loop about one of said webs of the associated frame, the webs of the frames, enclosed by the strap being fiat and of such breadth that a turning of the webs in the loops is prevented, and said side portions of the frames being provided, in the vicinity of the web enclosed by the strap end, with recesses for locking the strap and increasing the inner width of each frame to such an extent that the strap laterally compressed at this point does not form a bulge and re-extends to its full width still within the length of the associated frames.
