AGITATOR FOR TAN-VATS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters'IPatent No. 281,061, dated July 10, 1883. Application filed April 11, 1883. (No model.) I
To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, J osnrn HEAD, of Richmend, in the county of Henrico and State of Virginia, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Agitators for Tan-Vets, andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertainsto make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to an agitator for tanvats; and it consists in the parts which will be hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a vertical longitudinal section. Fig. 2 is asection on the line a: 90 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3is a top plan view with the slats removed. Fig. i represents details of the agitating-rod, its handle, and the mode of its attachment to the Fig. 5 is a top plan view of the vat, showing a seriesof slats and the manner in which they are secured; and Fig. 6 are details of side and end of vat, respectively, showing the slat-grooves therein.

hinged as specified, in combination with the cross-boards I G, pivots G, G, and I, and the agitating-meld, substantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
