PROTECTIVE PAD FOR PICTURE FRAMES.
No. 280,818. Patented July 10, 1883.

32 a? V 8 *R UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE S. HAZARD, OF NEWPORT, KENTUCKY.
PRQTECTIVE PAD FOR PICTURE-FRAMES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 280,818, dated July 10, 1883. Application filed February 3, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE S. HAZARD, a citizen of. the United States of America, residing at Newport, in the county of Campbell and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Protective Pads for Picture-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to wall-protectors for picture-frames and similar articles; and it consists in a screw-socket adapted to be secured to the frame, and provided with an elastic buffer, substantially as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
- In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe it, referring to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a sectional view of a pictureframe with my device attached. Figs. 2 and 3 are perspective views of my wall-protector.
A represents a wire having its outer end screw-threaded and its inner end twisted into a socket, a, in which is secured a buffer, 1), of rubber or other elastic material.
These screw-pointed sockets are screwed into the corners of picture-frames and other articles commonly hung upon the interior walls of houses, and the elastic buffer coming in con- 0 tact with the -wall or the paper upon it, as shown in Fig. 1, effectually prevents the corners 0f the frame or other article from denting or otherwise defacing it, and the picture being held off a slight distance from the Wall, 3 5 no dirt can collect behind it to form a defacing-line, so commonly seen.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A wall-protector formed of a single piece of wire twisted into a socket, having a screwthreaded point, and provided with a buffer or bearing-surface of rubber or other elastic ma terial, substantially as and for the purpose set 45 forth.
In testimony whereof I affiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE S. HAZARD.
