This invention relates to a structure useful in reducing the rate of heat loss of objects placed within the structure, and more particularly to a bun hut.

Everyone is familiar with the pleasant experience of having warm buns or rolls served with his meal. Naturally, the housewife wishes to provide this experience, but generally finds this a task not easy of accomplishment. It requires great ability and care in the kitchen to be sure that the hot rolls emerge from the oven and reach the table at just the same time as the food which the rolls are to accompany. If the rolls are Ydone too early, they will grow cold until the other food is done. It is, of course, not feasible to leave the rolls in the oven past the time when they are done, for fear of spoiling them.

It is the primary object of this invention to provide a structure whereby warm rolls and buns will retain their warmth, although they are prepared for the table well in advance of the time they are to be served. Such devices are known, but the inventive concept here involved is new. According to the present invention, this object is to be accomplished by providing a rigid, light container by way of a carrying member, and an insert for such container, which may be removable, and which may be closed to the outside by slide fastener or other simple means.

Susceptibility to removal is a very important object herein, for many advantages and virtues accrue from this feature. Naturally, in the course of use with an insert having the character described, the bun warmer will become soiled, and frequent laundering is indicated. This is made very easy by providing an insert which can be stripped from its carrier in a simple operation. In use the insert is always interposed between its contents and the carrier, so that the simple reasons of sanitation do not dictate frequent cleaning of the carrier as they do for the insert. Moreover, removability permits replacement of either insert or carrier separately should the need arise, rather than requiring replacement of the entire insert in the event of injury to only one component.

It is a further object herein to provide an insert which while quickly removable from its carrier, is firmly retained in place upon and Within the carrier. kThis object is achieved by provision of an apron on the insert, which insert fits over the edges of the carrier to maintain the insert in a spread condition as a liner for the carrier. An elastic tape operating in conjunction with the apron provides simple, yet sure means for holding the insert in place.

Still another object is to provide means whereby a carrier having a handle may be used, and yet easy separation of insert and carrier, is still possible of accomplishment.Y

Another object herein is to provide an insert which is capable of maintaining an upwardly convex or substantialy conical form, independently of an contents of the bun warmer. The embodiment of this invention shown in the drawings consists of a basket 10 and an insert 11. The basket has a handle 12, but the insert may be obviously applied to a basket or other container without a handle. Insert 11 has a bottom portion 13 which is adapted in shape to substantially line the interior of the basket 10.

The insert has also a top portion consisting of two

halves

14 and 15, the halves defining an opening 16 which may be closed by a slide fastener 17. When the top portion lis closed by means of slide fastener 17, the insert is effectively sealed, so that the rate of cooling of warm rolls or buns which are held therein is retarded.

14 and 15 of the top portion are so formed that when opening 16 is closed, the top portion of the insert assumes a substantially'conical, or upwardly convex position. To assure this tent-like condition, a bone 20, included in half. 14 of the top portion, extends from side to side of the insert, across the edge of half 14 bordering on opening 16. The function of this bone is to help sustain the top portion of the insert over and out of contact with the contents of the bun Warmer.

As a part of the insert, and circumferentially disposed thereabouts, is an apron 21. When the insert is in place' with the basket interior, apron 21 is draped over the edge of the basket. In this manner, the entire insert is maintained in a spread condition with the basket. In addition to the apron, elastic tape 22 also aids in this function of keeping the insert neatly and securely mounted upon the basket. As is evident from the drawings, tape 22 passes underhandle 12, its ends being joined to sloping

23 and 24 of the apron 21. `It is thus apparent that the insert 11 may be completely separated from the basket 10 for laundering, and yet is securely held in place when this is so desired.

While a specic embodiment of the invention has been described it is apparent that changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim:
