(Cl. 2-93) This invention generally relates to garments, and more specifically provides improved and novel construction in that class of garments generally known as jackets.

An object of this invention is to provide a garment having novel and improved construction for providing a jacket that is warm, long wearing, easy to form, attractive in appearance, well adapted for its intended purposes and relatively inexpensive to manufacture.

A still further important object of the present invention is to provide a jacket having the sleeves and lapel edges formed of woolen fabric material and the collar, back and front members formed of fur material thereby enhancing the utility and appearance of the jacket.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the jacket of the present invention showing the woolen fabric portions and the fur portions of the jacket;

Figure 2 is a plan view showing the back member and the collar member prior to assembly; and

Figure 3 is a group plan view showing the construction of the front members, lapel edges and sleeve members prior to their assembly to form the jacket.

Referring now specifically to the drawings, it will be seen that the numeral generally designates the jacket of the present invention.

The jacket 10 includes an enlarged generally rectangular back member 12 having recessed portions 14 in the upper side edges thereof together with upwardly and inwardly inclined top edges 16 terminating in an arcuate recess 18 in the upper edge thereof together with darts 20 for permitting assembly of the jacket 10. A collar member 22 is provided with a generally rectangular configuration having downwardly and inwardly converging side edges 24 together with a generally arcuate longitudinal edge 26 for attaching to the back member 12.

Also provided is a pair of front members 28 and 30 which are each provided with an arcuate recess 32 adjacent the upper side edge thereof, and the front members 28 and 30 are provided with upwardly and inwardly inclined edges 34 together with a depending recess 36 joining the edges 34. The edges 36 together with the recess 18 receive the collar 22 and is secured thereto. Secured to the inner edges of the front members 28 and 30 are a pair of lapel edges 38 and 40 that are secured to the edges of the front members 28 and 30, respectively. The front members 28 and 30 are also provided with pocket entrances 42. Also, a pair of sleeve members 44 and 46 are provided having specially configurated inner ends 48 for attachment to the recesses 32 in the front members 28 and 30 and the recesses 14 in the back member 12, thereby forming the completed garment 10. Suitable fastening means is provided on the lapel members 38 and 40 for securing the jacket in overlapping closed relation and a lining, designated by the numeral 50, may be provided on the entire inner surface of the jacket 10 for enhancing the comfort of the wearer. It is noted that the back member 12 together with the two front members 28 and 30 and the collar 22 are all constructed of fur material, and the sleeves 44 and 46 together with the lapel members 38 and 40 are constructed of woolen ICC ged and durable jacket that is neat in appearance and attractive due to the contrast between the fur members 12, 28, 30 and 22 and the fabric members 44, 46, 38 and 40.

In constructing the jacket 10, the various elements, 'such as the back member 12, the front members 28 and 30, the lapel members 38 and 40, the sleeve members 44 and 46 and the collar 22 are all assembled by suitable manufacturing procedures such as stitching or the like, and the elements of the invention form an attractive and neatly constructed jacket 10 as illustrated in Figure 1 wherein the collar 22 and the lapel members 38 and 40 form a neat appearance due to the contrast of the fur collar and the fabric lapel members 38 and 40. Also, the sleeves 44 and 46 form a pleasing appearance due to the contrast between the woolen fabric material of the sleeves 44 and 46 and the fur material of the back member 12 and the front members 28 and 30. Also, the fur material together with the fabric material forms a rugged and long wearing jacket that will generally retain its shape and neatness of appearance throughout its life.

From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

In a garment, a generally rectangular back member having upwardly and inwardly inclined upper edge portions, said upper edge having an arcuate recess in the center thereof, said back member having arcuate recessed portions in the side edges thereof adjacent said upper edge portions, darts extending inwardly from said arcuate recess in the upper edge, a collar member of generally elongated rectangular configuration having downwardly and inwardly inclined side edges and an arcuate lower longitudinal edge for engagement with the arcuate recess in the upper edge of the back member, a pair of generally elongated rectangular front members having arcuate recessed portions in the upper outer edges thereof for alignment with the arcuate recessed portions in the side edges of the back member, said front members having upwardly and inwardly inclined edges for engaging the inclined upper edges of the back member and an arcuate recess in the upper inner corner for engaging a portion of the arcuate edge of the collar, 9. pair of relatively narrow elongated rectangular lapel members of double thickness engaging the inner edges of said front members, said front members having vertically disposed pocket entrance slits, a pair of sleeve members having arcuated upper end portions for engaging the recessed portions in the side edges of the back and front members, said back member, collar, and front members being constructed of fur material, said sleeves and lapel members being constructed of fabric material.
