1 Claim. (Cl. 15-118) The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in wash pads for dishes, cooking utensils, or for other household uses where a wash pad of this character is commonly employed.

An important object of the invention is toprovide a wash pad constructed with a pocket adapted to contain soap powder, or other type of detergent, and provided with a foldable ap to close the pocket and which may then be subsequently folded into pad form for convenient USC.

Another object is to provide a wash pad constructed of a suitable fabric formed with a pocket to contain a powdered detergent and having a foldable ap for closing the pocket to retain the detergent therein and wherein a portion of the material is provided with a pad coated with abrasive or scouring material which may be either concealed or exposed by a predetermined folding arrangement of the pocket.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purpose for which the same is intended.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the. details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the pocket formed in the pad material;

Figure 2 is a similar view showing the ap of the pocket in closed position;

Figure 3 is a perspective view showing a partial folding of the pocket and flap;

Figure 4 is a perspective view showing the pad folded to expose the scouring material; and

Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on a line 5-5 of Figure 1. Referring now to the drawing in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a substantially rectangular-shaped fabric body of suitable flexible and porous material, such as terry cloth or the like, and having one side portion of the fabric folded upon itself and sewed at its end edges, as indicated at 6,

to form a pocket 7 and with the remainingportion of` the fabric providing a ap 8 adapted for folding upon the pocket to close the latter.

A scouring pad 9 is composed of a cloth or fabric backing 10 which is secured to one end portion of the outer surface of the ap 8 by stitching or the like 11 and the exposed surface of the pad 9 is provided with a coating of suitable abrasive or other relatively hard scouring n material 12 such as steel wool, or the abrasive may be cemented directly to the cloth.

The pocket 7` is adapted to contain a quantity of soap powder 13 or other suitable powdered detergent material, and after placing the detergent material 13 in the pocket, the flap 8 is closed upon the pocket in the manner indicated in Figure 2 of the drawings. The pocket 7 with the ap 8 folded thereupon may then be folded further by folding one end portion thereof upon .itself in either direction, one manner indicated in Figure 3 of the drawings, and the end portion of the flap and pocket provided with the scouring pad 9 may then be folded upon the previously folded portion of the pad to either expose the scouring pad 9, as shown in Figure 4, or to conceal the scouring pad 9 by folding the latter in the opposite direction.

By saturating the folded pad containing the detergent 13 in water, the detergent will become dissolved to provide a wash pad for dishes, cooking utensils or the like. By folding the pad to expose the scouring pad 9,'the same may then be used for scouringpots and pans, or the like.

From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and lequivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

A combination cleaning device of the character described comprising a flexible fabric sheet including a pocket for the reception of a powdered detergent and further including a ap foldable over the pocket about a longitudinal line for closing said pocket, and a pad on one end portion of the flap, the intermediate portion and the other end portion of the ap being free of said pad, said other end portion of the folded flap and the corresponding end portion of the pocket being foldable transversely in either direction on their intermediate portions, said one end portion of the folded Hap and the correspond- Y ing end portion of the pocket being transversely foldable selectively in one direction on their intermediate portions Ato conceal the pad and provide a washing device, or in the opposite direction to leave the pad exposed for providing a scouring device.
