SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 276,097, dated April 17, les?.

To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER G. THOMSON, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Toy, ot which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying; drawings, Figure l represents my toy complete, and Fig. 2 a portion of the same to a larger scale.
A B are two gures or puppets, composed ot twelve pieces of pasteboard, as follows: In each ligure a single piece ot' pasteboard, ai, serves to represent thehead and torso. These two pieces are coupled loosely to one another by two similar pieces, c, that represent the four arms, and by pivots b. Pivoted, as at d, to the lower end ot' each torso, are four pieces,
are pivoted, as at f. four other pieces, g, to represent the part ot' the leg below the knee. All of these pieces are printed or painted ou both sides to represent the corresponding members of the humanfigure. Thetwo pieces o that represent the four arms have central orifices, h, for reception of a string, ,'one end 'ot' which being fastened to a fixed object,j, z5 the operator is enabled by manipulation of the other end to throw the figures into an infinite variety of grotesque attitudes. Knots kin the string prevent the puppets shifting longitudinally thereon. 3o
I claim-- As a new article of manufacture, the toy consisting of twelve pieces of pasteboard composing two puppets, A B, jointed at the knees and hips and fiexbly coupled to each other 35 at the shoulders by two pieces, c, that represent the four arms of the puppets and whose central orilices,f, receive the operating-string t', substantially as set forth.
