Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a carton holder embodying the preferred form of the invention, when in its closed condition and mounted upon an upright wall.

In general, the holder which is made from sheet material includes an open top and bottom frame-like body of Fig. 1, on a scale supporting engagement by bottom carton enclosed in the holder. said walls extend rearwardly of marginal parts of the Portions of certain of order of 24 gauge steel.

The body portion 10 includes a front wall 13 and rearwardly extending end or side walls 14 14, top marginal portions of which are turned over inwardly and downwardly as a hem 15, thereby providing a finished edge and also materially stiffening the walls are also provided angled flanges 13a and The top edge of the sides 1414 is longer than the bottom edge and there is thus formed at the rear of each side a triangular extension 16. Each extension is provided with an inturned supporting wall engaging flange arranged with respect to front wall 13 and the remainder of the container so as to permit easy access by a screw driver or other attaching means. The holder, as a whole, is attached through openings 18 to an upright supporting wall 19 which best appears in Fig. 3. The inner lower ends of the 17 substantially meet the wall and in each of these walls, in substantially the vertical plane of the rear end of the flanges 14a, are spaced openings 20, the purpose of which will appear later.

The back 11 includes a Wall 10 to coact therewith .in providing a rectangular framelike holder body that is open at the top and at the bottom. At this time the flange 23 coacts with the flanges 13a and 14a respectively so as to be engaged :by the bottom marginal portions of a carton .27 which best appears in the dot and dash lines in iFig. 3, to prevent wider opening.

The cover 12 includes a panel or "body 28 having a downwardly extending hem 28a-*28b about the front and the :rnajor portion of the sides thereof. When the {cover '12 is in its closed position, said hem fits about the "outside of the upper outer margin *of the front and side walls lit- 14 of the body portion 10, as best appears in Fig. 1. The rear end portions of hems 28b are offset inwardly as at 30 to iflt inside the wider and'deeper upper .part of the associated triangular extensions 16 and each part 30 is provided with a hole 31 to match up with aihole'32 in "the associated extension 16. At the rear of the cover is a right angled flange 33. In assembling the cover with the 'body of theholder, before described, the :holes 31 are lined 'up with holes 34 in the extensions 16 and rivets 35are then passed through the aligned holes. This Spivotally attaches the cover to the body of the holder. The cover flange 33 is so proportioned in width that the edge of said flange, when said cover is open, will engage the rear face of the back 11, as best appears in Fig. 3 and will limitthe cover to a position, leaning forwardly of a perpendicular plane passing through the axis of the rivet 35.

When the holder is attached to an upright supporting wall 19, as in Fig. 3 it extends 'at a downward and outward angle therefrom. When the cover is swung into the open position shown in Fig. 3 it stands substantially parallel with the 'back 11 at an angle leaning forwardly of the perpendicular. Thus the cover tends, when swung into open position by gravity, to close itself, retaining the contents of the holder in sanitary condition.

As before described, the carton is supported in the holder byreason of its engagement upon the flanges 13a, 14a and 23, leaving the major portion of the bottom of the carton within said flanges exposed from below. Thus when it is desired to remove an empty carton 27 from the holder, 'to be replaced by a new and filled one, an upward push on the exposed bottom portion of the carton will lift the same upwardly and in turn cause the carton to swing the cover into the open position to permit placement of a new carton therein. When the new carton has been placed in the holder the lid swings back to the closed position.

The holder is of a light, strong construction and can be made at low cost. Also the holder protects the carton against damage and prevents the contents of the carton, after it has been opened, from becoming soiled to that extent which makes the contents unfit for use.

A carton holder for attachment to an upright wall to extend'in a downwardly inclined direction from the wall, embodying therein an open top body including front, back and end walls, each end wall including portions extending rearwardly of said back wall and terminating in right angled flanges that extend upwardly and rearwardly from the bottom of said back wall at an angle determining the angle of downward inclination of said holder with respect to sa'd wall small enough so that a carton .placed in said holder will be securely held therein by gravity, means extending inwardly from the bottom edges of at least certain bf said walls of the body for supporting engagement by a carton placed in said holder, and a cover member pivoted to said holder and capable of being swung into position to uncover the open top of said body, said angle of inclination being small enough so that said cover r'nember will return by gravity into po sition to cover completely the open top of said body.

A carton "holder -for attachment to an upright wall and to extend in a downwardly "inclined direction from the wall, embodying therein an open top body including front, back and end walls, each end wall including portions extending rearwardly of said back wall and terminating in an upright wall engaging right angle flange that extends upwardly and rearwardly from the bottom of said back wall at an angle determining the angle of downward inclination of said holder with respect to said wall small enough so that-a carton placed in said holder will be securely held therein by gravity, each of said right angle flanges being disposed to engage an upright wall substantially perpendicular to said end walls, means extending inwardly from the bottom edges of at least certain of said walls of the body for supporting engagern'en't by a carton placed said holder, and lid means hingedly connected to said holder operative to uncover the open top of said body, said angle of inclination being small enough so that said cover member will return by gravity into position to cover completely the open top of said body.

3. A carton holder for attachment to an upright wall and to extend in a downwardly inclined direction from the wall, 'embodying'the'rein a body having an open top, said body iricludiriga front and two end walls, each end wall terminating at its rear edge in an upright wall-engaging right angled flange that is disposed at an acute angle to said open top, "said angle being such as to cause said holder, when attached to an upright wall, to extend downwardly inclined away therefrom at an angle determining the angle of downward inclination of said holder with respect to said wall such that a carton placed in said holder will be securely held therein by gravity, means extending inwardly from the bottom edges of at least certain of said walls of the body for supporting engagement by a carton placed in said holder, and lid means hingedly connected to said holder operative to imcover the open top of said body, said angle of inclination being small enough so that said cover member will return by gravity into position to cover completely the open top of said body.
