3 Claims. (Cl.
This invention relates to a hair cutting device.
The primary object of this invention is to provide a hair cutting device which includes means for holding said device at a certain angle to the surface of the head during hair cutting.
Another object of this invention is to provide a hair cutting device which permits cutting hair at a certain angle to the surface of the head at a ditferent length.
Other objects and advantages will appear as the specification proceeds and the novel features of the device will be particularly pointed out in the claims hereto annexed.
In this specification and the annexed drawing, the invention is illustrated in the form considered to be the best but it is understood, that the invention is not limited to such form; and it is also to be understood that in and by the claims following the description, it is desired to cover the invention in whatsoever form it may be embodied.
This invention is illustrated by accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the hair cutting device.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the hair cutting device.
Fig. 3 is a front view of the hair cutting device.
Fig. 3-A is a top view of the plate.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of a guard and blade, the latter being shown partially in dotted line.
Fig. 5 is a side view of Fig. 4.
Fig. 6 is a plan view of the clamping member.
Fig. 7 is a front view of Fig. 6, and
Fig. 8 is a side view of the handle.
In detail, my hair cutting device consists of a guard 1 on which a razor blade 2 rests. The guard 1 and the blade 2 are securely held together by a clamping member or a clamp 3. Means are also provided for holding said blade at a certain angle during hair cutting in the form of a plate 5 placed on the top of the clamp 3. A handle 7 may be secured to the device by placing the same on the top of the plate 5, if so desired, for the purpose of convenience in handling the device. The whole assembly is held securely in place by a bolt 8 extending from the guard 1 through said blade, clamp, plate and handle and by a wing nut 10 screwed on the top of said bolt.
The guard 1 is formed with two rows of teeth and 16 of which the latter are longer than the first. The teeth 15 and 16 are formed from the guard 1 preferably by twisting each strip 90 at its base. The upper surface of each tooth is even with the upper surface of the guard as best shown in Fig. 3 so that the blade rests on the body of the guard and on its teeth. The guard 1 is also proguard and extends vertically therefrom through a central hole 24 in the blade 2. The razor blade 2 may be of any standard make and size and has a usual outline as shown in Fig. 4.
The clamp 3 is substantially semi-circular in crosssection and has a round circular opening 26, through which the bolt 8 passes, and a pair of elongated openings 27, the purpose of which shall be stated hereinafter. The clamp 3 bears on the blade 2 and holds it securely on the guard 1.
adjoins thecentral section 30 on its other side. The outer end of the intermediate section is bent downwardly as shown at 34, to form a finger piece 36. The latter is ended with a rolled edge 37. A lip 38 is struck from the The plate 5 is formed with a large opening 39 through which the wing nut 10 easily passes. The opening 39 extends from the bend 34 to the central section 30 and section 30 of the plate 5 in which case the handle 7 is eliminated. The nut 10 holds the guard 1, the blade 2, the clamp 3 and the plate 5 securely together.
If desired, the handle 7 is attached to the hair cutting device for convenience of operating the same. The handle 7 includes a portion which is placed over the plate 5. The portion 45 is provided with a large central opening 46 and two opposite slots 47, through which the wing nut 10 passes. The handle is moved so that the bolt 8 passes through the slot 47 near the end thereof.
If desired, the rolled edge 37 may be kept a desired distance away from the head while the teeth 15 touch the head and the device is moved to cut hair. The teeth 16 give a greater spacing between the head and the blade and, hence, leave longer hair on the head.
I claim:
1. A hair cutting device comprising a razor blade, a guard upon which said razor blade is mounted, a clamp over said blade for holding the latter on said guard, a plate over said clamp for holding said guard and blade at a certain angle during hair cutting operation, said plate consisting of a central section lying over said clamp, a thumb piece curved upwardly and connected with the central section on one side thereof, an intermediate section connected to the central section on the other side thereof, and a finger piece connected to the intermediate section and extending downwardly, said blade being at a and means for holding said guard, blade, clamp and plate together.
2. A hair cutting device comprising a razor blade, a guard upon which said blade is mounted, a clamping member resting on said blade for holding said blade on and a finger piece located below said horizontalplane and on the other side of said vertical plane, and means for holding said guard, blade, clamping member and plate together.
3. A hair cutting device comprising a guard having a plurality of teeth formed thereon, a razor blade on said guard, a clamping member resting on said blade for bolding the latter on the guard, a plate over said clamping member for holding said device at a certainrangle to the surface of the head during hair cutting operation, said plate consisting of a thumb piece extending from the clamping member upwardly and on one side thereof, and of a finger piece extending generally downwardlyrfrom said clamping member and on the other side thereof, and
-means for holding said guard, blade, clamping member and plate together.
