Description
UNITED STATES PATENT FEICE.
JOHN BRYNER, OF PEORIA, ILLINOIS.
COUNTING-I-IOUSE CALENDAR.
Specification of Letters Patent No.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOHN BRYNER, of Peoria, in the county of Peoria and State of Illinois, have invented a new Mode of Facilitating the Keeping of Memoranda of Business or other Appointments to be Attended to on Any Required Day, such as the date of a note falling due, Writs to be served, &c., to be known as Bryners Banking and Counting-House Calendar.
The nat-ure of my invention consists in an arrangement of gures and pins or knobs on which to place memoranda to be attended to at any required day of any month.
To enable others to make and use my invention I will proceed to describe its construction and operation. i
For this purpose a board or any other material of a convenient size say thirty-four (34E) in height by twenty-six (26) inches in breadth divided into thirty-one perpendicular columns or spaces, each column headed by numbers running from l to 3l, the number of days in a month. These perpendicular columns are crossed from left to right by heavy lines, dividing said columns into three separate compartments, each represent-ing one month. For convenience the space allotted to each month is subdivided through its length by a finer line in order to give more room for placing therein of 27,267, dated February 28, 1860.
memoranda. There is at the top of each of the three largest divisions cases or racks in which to place the names of the months of the year,- which are of course movable, as in a Common card case. In each alternate division in each month under the day of the month is placed a small movable pin, knob, or fastening to which may be attached any required memorandum or memoranda, by thrusting the point of said knob, pin, or fastening through the paper and replacing the knob or pin under the required date.
The drawing and model herewith is designed for three months only; the invention may be extended to any number of months, if required.
What I claim as my invention is- An arrangement of figures and pins, knobs, or other fastenings (for memoranda) on a board or other material together With cases for movable names of the months, divided into spaces on which to place any required memorandum or appointment under its proper date for the purpose of facilitating business nien and others in keeping any and all appointments or business of any description to be attended to at any given time.
JOHN BRYNER.
