SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.l 272,558, dated February 20, 1883.

in the construction of said support, and in providing a connection between vthe support and the side handle to secure a more extended rest and impart greater rigidity to the comb.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a curry-comb with my improvement. Fig. 2 is a section through the comb and handle. Fig. 3 is a perspective view, showing the support detached.

The body Aand side handle, B, areconstructed and connected in any well-known Vor suitable manner.

The tinger-support C is at or over thc back ot the comb, nearly central therewith, and is connected to or forms partof an arm or bar,a,whieh extends from the top of the support to the side handle, B, and which may be prolonged to form a tang, b, to extend into the side handle. The support O may be secured to the body of the comb in any suitable manner. A cheap and advantageous structure is a light castmetal support in the form ot' a hollow knob, having the arm a cast therewith, and with cast-metal projections e, which may be passed through holes in the comb-back and spread or riveted below the latter, thereby connecting the body and support firmly together. The arm or extension a affords a more extended rest for the fingers, and serves as a means of connecting the support C and side handle, bracing the latter and adding rigidity to the comb. The construction and arrangement of the arm a will of course depend somewhat upon the rclation and structure of the comb-body and side handle in the class of combs to which the attachment is applied.

It will be apparent that a supporting attachment constructed as shown may be sold to be applied to combs of the ordinary construction already made, it being only necessary to drive the tang b into the side handle, no connection with the comb-body being made in such onse.

I claim-L- 1. The combination, with the body and tixed side handle of a curry-comb, of a support consistingof a knob-like body, C, and alateral arm, the said arm extending to the side handle, B, and the body O being attached to the combbody, as set forth.

2. A support for curry-combs, consisting of a main knob-like body or portion and a lateral arm cast in one piece, with pins e projecting from the main portion, as specified.
