Description

(N0 Model.) I W." J. MULLEN.
GURTAINBOD HOLDER.
'INVENTOR:
BY k2,-
Patented Nov. 28.11882.
WITNESSES W fx w ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
WILLIAM J. MULLEN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CURTAIN- -ROD HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 268,265, dated November 28, 1882. Application filed May 18, 1882. (No model.)
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved curtain-rod-holding device which can easily be adjusted according to the length of the curtain-rod or width of the window-opening. a
The invention consists in a tube provided near the ends with clamping or binding screws, in the ends of which tube bent or curved wires or rods are held by the screws, which rods or wires have loops or eyes at the endsfor receiving the pintles of the curtain-rod, and have loops or eyes near the upper ends for the hooks ior suspending the curtain-rod holder. By adjustin gthese-rods or wires to projectagreater or less distance from the ends of the tubes the same can be adjusted for curtain-rods of different lengths.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a curtain and its rod, showing the latter hung in one of my improved holders. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of my improved curtainrod holder. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional elevation of the same. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the hook for hanging the curtain-holder.
A tube or hollow rod,A, which may be plain or ornamental, is provided with two binding or clamping screws, B, for holding wires or rods 0, which are passed into the ends of the tube A in place. These rods 0 have their outer ends bent or curved downward, and have loops or eyes D formed at these outer ends, which eyes or loops D are to receive the pintles E atthe ends of the curtain-rod. The upper or straight parts of the wires or rods (3 are bent to form loops F, for receiving the hooks G, by which the curtain-rod holder is suspended froin the top cross-piece of the window-jamb. The shanks of these hooks are threaded, and pass through a disk, H, which can be screwed up or down on the shank. By means of this disk the hooks can be closed, and the loops F cannotbe thrown out ofthe hooks by accident. The rods or wires 0 are moved in or out of the tube A a greater or less distance, as the length of the curtain-rod may require, and are locked in position by means of the binding-screws B. The hooks G are then secured in the window-frame, so as to coincide with the loops F, and then the curtain-rod is placed between the loop ends of the wires or rods G, the pintles E-passing into the loops D.
Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, ist 1. Acurtain-rod holder formed of two wires, C 0, having loops 1) F, and connected by an intermediate piece,A,as shown and described.
2. In a curtain-rod holder, the combination, with the rod A, of the binding-screws B and the rods or wires 0, held in the ends of the rod A, and each provided with a loop, D, at the end for the curtain-rod pintle, and a loop, F,
near the upper end for the hook G, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
WILLIAM J. MULLEN.
