ATTORNEY Patented June 15, 1954 VERTICALLY DISCHARGING BLADE DISPENSER Zemach Auerbach, Bronx, N. Y.;
bach, administrator of the Philip R. Auerestate of said Zemach Auerbach, deceased Application November 27, 1948, Serial No. 62,260
8 Claims.
This invention relates to a dispenser for safety particularly has reference be housed, razor blades singly released therefrom and deposited directly in its seat upon a conventional safety razor.
An object of this invention is the means proa regulation disassembled safety razor blade at the end of each reciprocal movement.
A still further object of this invention is the provision of an organization in which the constituent elements are so arranged structurally and functionally with materials and members which may be manufactured at reasonable cost, may be easily assembled and which will be efiicient in operation with minimum wear to the parts.
The best embodiment of the invention has been chosen for illustrative purposes, but this embodiment should be viewed as being illustrative only and not as limiting because obviously the invention is capable of other embodiments having revised details of construction, so long as they fall within the ambit of the appended claims.
The invention itself, however, both as to its organization and its method of operation, will best be understood from the following description of a specific embodiment when read in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a top view of the dispenser.
Fig. 2 is a bottom view thereof.
type razor OI upon a razor as to assure improved results Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of the same,
Fig. 4 is an end view of same.
Fig. 5 is a transverse section, in elevation, taken along line 55 of Figs. 1 and 2.
Fig. 6 is a longitudinal sectional view, in elevation, taken along line 66 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 7 is a view of a safety razor blade having a central cut out portion to conform to this invention.
Fig. 8 is a similar view but shows a reverse arrangement of the central cut out portion shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 9 is a side elevational view of the slider element forming a part of this invention.
Fig. 10 is an end view of same.
Fig. 11 is a plan and side view of a spring element employed in said invention.
Referring in detail to the parts (Figs. 1 to 11 inclusive), ll designates a housing comprising a top plate I2 formed with end Walls l3, side walls [4, a central opening l5 and a longitudinally disposed slot I 6. The side Walls M are formed with inwardly turned ends I! and the said end walls l3 are formed with inwardly turned ends l8. The said side walls l4 and the inwardly turned ends I1 providing recesses to receive the long or side edges I9 of a razor blade 20, while the corners formed at ill with the end walls [3 provide recesses to receive the projecting end portions 2| of said razor blades 20.
The said razor blades are of conventional type with the exception of a central cut out portion in the shape of a rectangular opening 22 having notches 23 at one end thereof. The said notches 23 are adapted to receive ledge formations 24 formed upon the lower ends of depending legs 25 in turn formed upon a slider element 26. The said slider element 26 is adapted to reciprocal sliding movement upon the top plate [2 of the said housing and is guided in its movement thereupon by depending lugs 21 formed upon the said slider element 26 and engaging in the said slot [6. The razor blades 20 are stacked within the said housing ll (Figs. 2, 5 and 6) the lowermost blade designated as 28, being held within said housing by the said lugs 24 while a U-shaped spring element 29, formed with legs 30 (Fig. 11) is disposed between the top plate 12 of the said housing H and the uppermost razor blade to urge the lowermost blade in close contact with the said lugs 24. The said blades'are arranged, when packed within the said housing, so that they lie in alternate reverse order, thereby alining the said notches 24 in staggered vertical relation to one another.
When the said slider 26 is moved to one extreme position (Fig. 2) the lugs 24 engage over the sides of the said rectangular opening 22 in the blade and hold same and all the blades stacked above it in place within the housing. When, however, the slider 26 is moved to its oppositeextreme position, the lugs-24-of said slider 2.B;,will, -aline;with thenotches 23 of the contacting razor blade 28 and allow same to drop from the housing 32 of the double shutter tioned and shown in Fig. obviously, is held within the said housing against displacement. End walls. 3I- are formedupon the said slider 26 to in Fig. 11 is preferably formed of spring wire but a spring of a fiat metal strip may be employed.
Referring to the housing shown in Fig. l,'in place ofthe spring shown in Fig. 11, the top. l2 may be slitted, to. form. inwardly bent spring members which holds the stack of blades within the housing under downward pressure.
I claim:
