Claims priority, application Sweden August 23, 1948 2 Claims;

This invention relates to an improvement in kitchen tables and particularly to those kitchen tables which under the table ,leaf have a space for storing various household objects, such as a skirt board, asleeve board. and the like.

One object of the invention is to provide a kitchen. table wherein on the underside of the table leaf, preferably in proximity of two oppo site frame parts is arranged a hook member directed towards one of said frame parts in such a manner that when being swung up from the horizontal to the vertical position the table leaf supports with its respective hook member against aframe part or against a leg, said hook member retaining the table leaf. in said vertical position.

A second object of the invention is to provide a kitchen table wherein a second leaf which is intended for ironing or the like, is arranged on supports in the space under the table leaf at a distance from the bottom of the space, each of said supports being provided with a projection, recess or the like, preventing said second leaf from gliding down when it has been swung up to bear with its upper edge against the raised table leaf.

A third object of the invention is to provide a kitchen table wherein supports equipped with hook members are arranged to be hooked on to one or more frame parts, said supports being adapted to horizontally carry one or more additional leaves.

A fourth object of the invention is to provide a kitchen table wherein fittings provided on the underside of the additional leaf and extending outside the plane thereof are equipped with a projection or the like adapted to engage a corresponding recess in the underside of the table leaf.

An embodiment of the kitchen table according to this invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing.

Figure 1 is a section of the table with the table leaf swung up in the vertical position.

Figure 2 is a section at right angles to the section in Figure 1 with the table leaf shown in full lines and an additional leaf in dash and dot lines, both swung up in vertical position.

Figures 3 and 4 show a supporting foot for a sleeve board in two different positions.

Figure 5 shows the supporting foot fixed to the table carrying the sleeve board.

Fig. 6 shows a vertical section through the table along one of the frame parts of the table with support leg and sleeve board stored in the space formed between the lowered first'table leaf leaf 4 forms a hook'member'. The projection 6 is arranged at a distance from the table leaf corresponding to' the thickness of" the legso that when the table leaf has been" swung up to its vertical" position, the hook members engage their respective legs 2 sothat the table leaf is retained in said vertical position; swinging movement the projection supports against the leg. To the two frame parts which are at right angles to the cross members '5 is fixed a bottom 8 provided with upwardly directed side flanges 1 so that a drawer 9 is formed. On the flanges I is arranged a second leaf ID to be used for ironing, for example. In proximity of the legs on which the raised table leaf rests, are arranged recesses I I in the flanges, so that when the table leaf 4 has been swung up and the leaf II] has been swung up to bear against the firstmentioned table leaf with its upper edge, the table leaf II] rests with its lower edge in the recesses II. Slits I2 adapted to receive supports for the sleeve board and the like are made in one edge of the table leaf I 0. An additional table leaf I3 is shown in dash and dot lines in Fig. 2. Said table leaf is carried by supports I4 which are provided with a hook member I5 arranged in such a manner that when it has been hooked on to the frame part 3, the upper edge I6 of the support is situated in the same plane as the upper edge of the frame parts. Under the additional table leaf is fixed a fitting I'I projecting under the table leaf 4 and provided with a projection I8 which is inserted in a hole made in the underside of the table leaf 4 so that the additional leaf win he held in the correct position.

The foot support shown in Figures 3 to 5 consists of parallelepipedic supports I9 and 20 which are hinged to each other by means of links 2| so that in operative position the supports will be located perpendicularly, parallel with each other (see Fig. 3). One of said supports is provided with an integral rectangular member which forms an upper and a lower U-shaped member 22 and 23 respectively with said. support. In the upper u-shaped member 22 is inserted one end portion 24 of the sleeve board which also rests on the support l9, so that the sleeve board is firmly supported by the foot support. Y

In Fig. 6 the first table leaf 4 is shown in raised position and with the sleeve board 25 and the support leg placed on the second table leaf 10. When the sleeve board is to be used for ironing, the first table leaf 4 is first swung up to the vertical position, the support leg is placed with the supports l9 and 2|! on the second table leaf H1 in such a manner that the support 20 will be on the outer side, whereafter the U-shaped member 23 of the said support is inserted in the slits I2 in the second table leaf l2 (see Fig.

The invention is not restricted to the embodiment shown but the details may be varied in many ways without going beyond the scope of the invention.

Having now described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: 4

1. A table having a drawer and supporting legs and having a first table leaf, a second table leaf positioned below said first table leaf and forming the top of said drawer when said table leaves are in normal position, said first and second leaves being arranged along corresponding sides for movement from a closed to an opened position, a shirt and sleeve board adapted .to be stored in the drawer and below the second leaf, said second leaf being provided along one of its edges with means for supporting said sleeve board when said second leaf is in closed position and said first leaf is in opened position; said supporting means comprising a support leg for fastening said board to the second table-leaf, said support leg consisting of two supports so connected to each other by means of a link system that they can be swung from a position close to each other to a position in which they are located at a distance from each other, one of said supports being provided with devices for fastening it to the second table-leaf and for fastenin the shirt and sleeve board respectively to the support.

2. A table according to claim 1, in which said supports are parallelepipedic and there are provided upon one of said supports a U-shaped member having a first upper and a second lower portion, respectively, one of which portions is adapted to be inserted into slits in the second table-leaf while the other portion is adapted to carry one end portion of the shirt and sleeve board.
