is provided with a thumb screw 35 and the clamp 33 is provided with a similar screw 31.
The brace I8 is provided with an idler pulley 38, which is journaled on a stud 39, and the brace I9 is provided with a similar pulley 40 that is journaled on a stud 4I. The hub of the pulley I2 is provided with a set screw 42 for securing the pulley on the sleeve.
The sleeve Il in which the propeller shaft I3 is adjustably mounted is pivotally mounted in bearings 43 and 44 on a bracket 445, the upper end of which is provided with a U-shaped clip 46 that extends over the stern board, or outboard motor mounting 41. The lower part of the bracket 45 is provided with thumb screws 48, which .are threaded in openings therein and the inner ends of the thumb screws are provided with washers -49 that contact the outer surface of the stern of the lboat, which is indicated by the numeral 50.
The bracket 45 is also provided with thumb screws 80 in the upper edge for clamping the bracket to the upper edge of the stern.
The sleeve Il is provided with set collars 5I and 52 for holding the sleeve in position in the bracket. A set screw 53 is also provided in the upper end of the sleeve for retaining the shaft in lposition within the sleeve.
The propeller shaft I3 and sleeve Il are also Vsecured in position by bearings 54 and `55 on the vbraces 20 and 2 I, respectively and the outer ends of the braces are provided with U-shaped clamps 56 and 51, similar to the clamps 32 and 33 on the Yends of the braces I8 and I9.

The propeller blade, as indicated by the numeral 64 is mounted through hub sections 65 and S5 on a pin B1 extended through the fork I5 and the movement of the lblade is limited by out- 'wardly extended arms 58 and '69, as shown inA Figure 7. The forward cable 29 `is connected to a rear cable 10, that is trained around the'pulley I6 by turn buckles Il and 'l2 whereby tension in the cables mayv` be adjustedl to compensate for 'weather conditions and to assure successful `operation of the device.
In the design shown the boat is provided with a cushion seat 'I3 with a back I4 and this seat is mounted upon a seat l5 extended across the stern of the boat.
-A AWith the parts arranged in this manner a comparatively slow forward and backward movement of the feet, with the feet positioned upon the pedals 21, actuates the propeller blade `64 from the full line position shown in Figure 1 to the position indicated in dotted lines and, with the propeller suspended below the bottom of the boat the pedals may be swung around through a portion of a turn to swing the propeller to the positionindicated by the dotted lines 16, as shown i Y in Figure 2, when it is desired to actuate the boat in reverse. It will also be understoodv that travel of the 4boat may be controlled by a slight shifting of the positions of the foot pedals.
With the parts arranged in this manner ythe rig or mounting may readily be installed upon a boat and may also be removed therefrom whereby the boat may be used with or without a fish-tail l.propeller mounting, as may be desired.

What is claimed is:
1. In a foot actuated propeller mounting for use on boats, the combination which comprises a vertically disposed shaft, a sleeve mounted on the shaft, a bearing adapted tomount the lower end of the shaft in the bottom of a boat, diagonally disposed braces having bearings on the ends thereof for supporting the -upper part of the shaft and sleeve from the sides of a boat, a spider having radially disposed arms with foot pedals on the arms carried by the lower end of the sleeve, a sheave mounted on the upper end of the sleeve, a vertically disposed propeller shaft, a sleeve mounted on the propeller shaft, a bracket adapted to be positioned on the stern of a boat in which the sleeve and propeller shaft are journaled, means for clamping the bracket to-the stern -of la boat, diagonal braces having bearings on the ends extended from the sleeve and propeller shaft, means for clamping the ends of the braces to the sides of the boat, a pulley carried .by the sleeve on the propeller shaft, cables connecting the pulleys on the propeller shaft and shaft upon which the pedals are carried, and a propeller blade carried by the lower end of the propeller shaft. v Y

a sleeve mounted on the propeller shaft, a bracket adaptedto be positioned on the stern of 4a boat in which the sleeve and propeller shaft are journaled, means for clamping the bracket to the stern of the boat, diagonal braces having bearings on the ends extended from the sleeve and propeller shaft, means for clam-ping the ends of the braces to the sides of a boat, a pulley carried by the sleeve on the propeller shaft, cables ccnnecting the pulleys of the propeller shaft and shaft upon which the pedals are carried, a propeller carried by the propeller shaft, and means on the propeller shaft for vertically adjusting the shaft in the said'bracket.
3. In a foot actuated propeller mounting for Ause on boats, the combination which comprises a vertically disposed shaft, a sleeve mounted on the shaft, a bearing adapted to mount the lower onally disposed braces having bearings on the ends thereof for supporting the upper part of the shaft and sleeve from the sides'of a boat,'a spider having radially disposed arms ywith foot pedals on the arms carried by the lower end of the sleeve, a sheave mounted on the upper end of the sleeve, a vertically disposed propeller shaft, a' sleeve mounted on the propeller shaft, a bracket adapted to be positioned on the stern of a boat naled, a set screw threaded in the sleeve for vertically adjusting the propeller shaft in the sleeve,
means clamping the bracket to the stern ofthe boat, diagonal braces having bearings ontheends 5 extended from the sleeve and propeller shaft, means for clamping the ends of the braces to the sides of a boat, a pulley carried by the sleeve on the propeller shaft, cables connecting the Ipulleys of the propeller shaft and shaft upon which the pedals are carried, a propeller blade carried 'by the lower end of the propeller shaft, set collars on the sleeve for vertically adjusting the sleeve and the propeller shaft vertically in the said bracket, and idler pulleys around which the cables are trained journaled on and spaced from the outer ends of the braces.
