It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprebended by thespirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. An attachment for pipe bits comprising a rigid U-shaped member adapted to extend trans-v versely of and embrace a bit and being sufficiently small to fit completely within=a"i 1ser"s mouthand being disposed behind a users '1ewergumafid inturned flanges on the limbs of said member for overlying a pipe bit, said member comprising separable halves, and a fastener adjustably connecting said halves.
2. For use with a pipe bit, a pair of comple- Lniental hool: members adapted-to embrace a pipe hinone 0fs'aidmenibers having'a threadedaperiiirejand the other or said members having an pp mn m registry withs'aidaperture, and-a fastenereit'ending through-the'opening and threadh a rt re- The combination of 'claim 2 wherein said opening includes outwardly flared ends, said fastener having a head seated 'in one end of said 4. attachment for pipe bits comprising a pair of complement al hook members each having an inner end-and an outer-end,'s'aid members being progressively reduced in-cross-section from their inner ends towards their outer ends, said inner inner end of one of'saidmembers having'a'groove "therein extending across the opening and the apertureyan'd a rib'on the inner 'end of the other 4 member adapted to enter the groove when the fastener is tightened to bring the inner end portions of the members together.
5. In a pipe bit, a member underlying the bit and having a concave surface held against the undersuriace of the bit, said member extending transversely of the bit and having inturned end portions overlying the bit, said member being composed 'of two sections, and means "adjustably connecting the sections and clamping the sections against the bit.
6. 'AIpipebit attachment comprising a channelshaped member having a base, side walls and in- Wardly racin "flanges at the upper ends of the side walls said 'flanges having their inner facing edgesspaced than, the channel-shaped member being 'of a shape corresponding substantially to the shape of the bit of a mouthpiece of a smoking "pipe, said attachment when in position on the mouthpiece permitting a portion of a lip of a smoker to rest on the bit'surfa'ceinthe space between the flanges. I
7. The combination of claim 6 wherein said base is composed or two sections and fastening means connecting said sections. 7
