SPECIFICATIONforming part of Letters Patent No. 264,840, dated September 19, 1882..
Application filed February 6, 1882. (h'IOdcL) T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, REUBEN MYERS, of Harshmansville, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in an Adjustable-Jaw Boot-Jack, of which the following is a specification.
The invention consists of the arrangement of an iron frame or base, to'the end of which is attached a pair of rigid and also a pair of spring yielding jaws pivoted-to the rigid jaws; and it finally consists in the particular shape, construction, arrangement, and novelty of frame and jaws.
In the accompanying drawings, in which similarletters of reference indicate like parts, Figure 1 is a perspective of a device em bodying my invention. Fig.2 is a longitudinal side view of the same.
To the end of the frame or base D, which sits upon the floor and is supported by the feet E, is attached a pair of rigid jaws, F F, and also another pair of spring \ieldingjaws A A,
pivoted to the rigid jaws F F, and are turned upon the pivots O C from their normal position, as shown by dotted lines A A, by means of springs B B.
In side View, D represents the rear of frame, and 0 represents that part of pivot which eX- tends beneath the rigid jaw F, and A represents the spring yielding jaw as beneath the rigidjaw.
I claim-- In a bootjack provided with the frame or base D, the combination of the rigid jaws with 5 a pair of spring yielding jaws, and arranged to operate substantially as set forth.
