(o1. 10s-5s) 'ThisV invention relates ture. .While this invention might have various v applications; it is particularly4 adapted for use in homes or small places of business or in business `roffices. It is desirable to have asafety box in such places for the safe 'keeping of jewels,V money or valuable papers. It is desirable to have 'such a safety box for. protection from loss by fire or theft. vSuch a safety box could be placed in a small space where it would not be noticeable and where it'could be fastened so that it would not be readily removable.
Itis an object of this invention to provide a relatively small safety box which will give protection against loss by fire or by theft.

A door 20 is provided for closing the open end Ille of casing l0. Said door comprises an'outer hat plate member 20a. Said outer plate member is made of sheet material preferablyrof the same substance as the said casing. Y Mounted on the inner side of said plate member 20a is an insulating block 20h. Said insulating block is, made preferably of the same substance as the 'inner Aunitary insulating member. Secured to plate 20a inner orhinge end of said door plate whereby it swings under and is disposed under vertical front wall Ig when said door is closed and in closed position respectively. Extending through said outer plate 20a are bolts 20d passing respectively through anchoring plates 20e, the same being provided with nuts 20j. The inner portion of said bolts, as well as said anchoring plates and nuts are embedded in lsaid insulating block 20h, which latter is thus securely held in position. The sides of said insulating block 20 incline inwardly slightly to fit into and tightly close the open end I5c of the inner unitary insulating member. Said door is provided with a lock 2l.
' Said lock is positioned at the open end of said U-shaped plate 20c and is provided with a combination dial and handle 2Ia and with a bolt 2lb. When in closed position, said bolt extends through groove I6g and under frame I8, thus holding said door member in closed position.
A box or drawer 22 is provided and is slidably tted into lining I1. Said box is open at its top and is preferably made of metal and is provided with a handle 22a at its front side. Said box is adapted to receive various items or articles of value to be placed `within said casing for safe keeping.
In operation, members I2 are bolted to a base I4, such as a wooden or concrete floor, asshown in Figs. 2 and 3. Members Il rigidly-fixed to members I2 are adapted to receive portionsv Illf of casing I0, said casing thereby being longitudinally slidable on said members I I. When moved the full length of members Il, so that casing Ill is vertically over members I I and thus in normal position, a headed bolt or pin I5 is placed through opening Ih and is received in opening |25 thus preventing any longitudinal movement of said casing I0. Casing I0 of course cannot be lifted vertically due to portions If in members I I.
Money or valuables are placed in box or drawer 22, said box being disposed as described inside the unitary insulating chamber I6. The door or cover 2D is then placed in closed position. Member 20h lits into the open end |60 of the unitary insulating member land the outer plate member closes tightly the open end I0e of the casing I0. The unitary insulating member I6 and the block 20h fitting therein form a complete insulating wall about box or drawer 22 so that the same is perfectly insulated. The contents of box 22 would thus not be damaged in case of fire. The walls of member I6 as vstated are continuous and great safety is thus provided against lire.
From the above description it will be seen that I have provided a compact and conveniently handled safety box whichcan easily be placed in an obscurefor inconspicuous place. It is readily fastened to a floor member and the bolts holding the safety box in secure position are not accessible to anyone tampering with same. The device can conveniently be placed in a closet in a residence.

It will of course be understood that various changes may be made in the form, details, arrangement and proportions of the parts, without departing from the scope of applicants invention, which generally stated, consists in a device capable of carrying out the objects above set forth, in the parts and combinations of parts disclosed and deiined in the appended claim.
What is claimed is:
A safety box structure having in combination, a metal casing substantially rectangular in transverse section having a chamber therein provided vvith an opening at one end, a rigid integral box-like insulating member fitted in said chamber provided with an opening at the same end as the open end of said casing, said casing having a narrow flange about three sides of the open end portion of said casing adjacent the edge portionsv of said member at its open end, a narrow front wall extending across the fourth side of said open end portion of said casing, a door fitted in saidv open end portion of said casing and hingedly secured to said front wall, a block of insulating material secured to the inner side of said door for sealing the opening of Said member, said member having an enlarged opening at its end portion with outwardly diverging Walls, said block of insulating material having inwardly inclined walls adapted to t in said opening having outwardly diverging walls and a U-shaped metal plate disposed between said block and said door having an extension at the hinged end of said door and arranged to be disposed beneath a side portion of said front wall when said door is in closed position.
