3 Claims. 1
My invention relates to cabinet enclosures for sinks.
An important object of my invention is to provide an enclosure for a sink which will resemble a cabinet and thus improve the appearance of the sink concealing at the same time the exposure of the area below the sink, neatly and attractively.
An important object of my invention is to provide means in a cabinet structure of the aforementioned character which will permit adjustment of the length and/or width thereof.
A' still further object of my invention is to provide an enclosure for sinks which is placed centrally of a wall structure.
A still further object of my invention is to provide an enclosure with either a right hand or left hand structure to accommodate sinks that are placed in a corner of a room between two walls.
A still further object of my invention is to provide an adjustable number of legs for supporting my sink cabinet.
A still further object of my invention is to provide doors on the said cabinet enclosure which will make available access to the interior confines of the cabinet structure after it has been assembled to the sink, and permit utilizing the said confines for storage or other similar purposes.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a sink enclosure or cabinet of the aforementioned character which is practical in construction, and of such simple elemental arrangement ofparts as towarrant economical manufacture in quantities.
Other objects and advantages inherent in my invention will become apparent from an examination of the accompanying drawings, bearing further elucidation in the ensuing description, wherein like parts are designated by like symbols, and in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the cabinet structure comprising my invention as attached to a sink shown in dotted line.
- Fig. 2 is a fragmentary perspective view of the rear portion of the cabinet structure showing how the same may be attached to the board trim at the base of the wall structure.
Fig. 3 is a slightly modified form of my invention showing the structure of the cabinet at one corner thereof, when the sink occupies a space adjacent a corner between two walls.
Fig. 4 is a front view of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a cross-sectional view taken substantially on the line 5-5.
Fig. 6 is an end view of Fig. 4.
Fig. 7 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line '|'l of Fig. 4.
Fig. 8 is a fragmentary perspective view showing the adjustable feature of the sink cabinet structure.
Fig. 9 is a fragmentaryperspective view showing the adjustable leg structurean important feature of my invention.
Referring to the various views, my invention is generally designated I 0 and is shown as attached to a sink generally designated l I provided with faucets l2 and a drain basin I3.
My invention consists of a front panel unit [4 which is cut out in order to accommodate the hingedly secured doors [5, the panel also having secured thereto, for ornate purposes, the partially cylindrical columns Hi.
The slotted portions l1 and the slotted portions 2 0 accommodate adjustably the circular element l8 which may be made of Masonite or plastic material or any other suitable thin sectional material, the same being arcuately shaped as indicated, and having the edges thereof insert'ed in the slotted portions [1 and 20. The said portions are then secured by screws or other suitable fastenings after the sink cabinet or enclosure is adjusted to a size to accommodate the sink II.
The side panels l9 are provided in this particular form wherein the sink is located on a wall away from the adjacent walls so that no side of the sink is adjacent an angularly positioned wall. Thus the structures 19 are pro vided with slotted portions 20 to receive the adjusting elements l8 and the said side panels [9 are secured to the rear panels 21.
The rear panels 2| are cut short, whereas the side panels H are suitably cut out at 23 in order to clear the bored trim 22 usually found at the bottom of a wall shown in dotted lines in Fig. l. The inserts I!!! are also arcuately cut out at their bottom portion as shown at 25 in order to conform to the curvature, or arcuate, formation 26 of the Wall board 22. The said insert I9a is provided, and is of sufiicient length to permit its top portion to be cut off to fit when the cabinet is being installed.
When the sink II is located adjacent an end wall with one of its sides near an end wall then that particular side of the structure I0 is modified as indicated in Fig; 3. The adjusting panel 21 is straight rather than of arcuate formation and fits into the slot [1 in the column l6 whereas a side panel 28 is provided which may be narrow and has a slotted portion 29 therein in order to receive the adjusting panel 21.
The side panel 28 is provided with an arcuate cut out portion 30 at its lower edge in order to conform to the rounded portion 26 of the wall board 22, and thus provide a finished appearance.
It is to be noted that the lower portion of the sink cabinet enclosure is raised from the floor as willbe hereinafter explained by virtue of its supporting legs, and in order to present a finished appearance, a decorating apron 2 5 of flexible material may be secured to the lower edge as indicated in the various Figs. 1, 4, 6 and '7.
The means for adjustment of the cabinet is clearly illustrated in Fig. 8, where it is shown that the arcuate panel I8 may occupy any space indicated in the slotted portion I! which is formed by undercutting the frame M at 32 and fitting .the column 16 thereover thus creating the slotted portion I1. The element l8 may .have. its edge 33 placed in abutting position as shown by the full lines or spaced further outwardly as indicated by the dotted line in Fig. 8.
The leg structure 38 is provided with a bottom portion 40 and with an elongated portion 39 which is made to fit the body of the bolt 35. The said bolt is. held in position in a spacer plate 34 attached adjacent the rear portion of the panel I4, and the body 36 is threaded at the end inorder to receive the wing nut 31 for the same to be locked firmly in place. By virtue of the slot 33, the legs may be moved until they improvements, I hereby reserve the right to all modifications, alterations, and improvements falling within the scope and spirit'of my invention, as well as any modifications that are embraced suggestively in the accompanying drawings, and any that may come within the r purview of the foregoing description; my invention to be limited only by the appended claims.
Having thus disclosed and revealed my invention, what I claim-as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
