(Cl. 220-18) 1 The'present invention relatesto a rubbish basket, particularly for public parks, gardens, etc., which can be xed to a stationary holder and locked suitably by means of a key.
In the execution of the rubbish basket according to the invention, a simple connection of the basket with the holder is obtained by the supporting stirrup. By way of example, the accompanying drawing shows a View of one form of execution ofthe object of the invention.
The holder I is in the form of a T and can be fixed for instance to a wall or railing in any de. sired known manner. The vertical part 2 of the holder I is bent round at its lower end where it formsV a lug 3. The ends of the horizontal arms 4 are formed as eyes 5. The container 6, which is preferably made of wire netting at the front, has a back wall l and a bottom 8 of sheet metal. In the latter a hole 9 yis provided which co-operates with the lug 3. II is pivotally supported in the eyes I2 rigidly secured to the upper edge I!! of the container 6 in any suitable manner. Beyond these eyes, straps I3 are lconnected firmly to the supporting stirrup II and are for instance welded. The straps I3' have hooks I4 at their rear ends, which can enter into the eyes 5.
In the front wall 6 of the container a lock I5 is provided, in which the supporting stirrup II can be secured by means of a lug I6 formedV as a hook for this purpose. Locking is effected with a key not shown in the drawing, :by lmeans of which the square-ended bar Il can be turned.
The design of the lock may be of any known type.
For example, the bar I7 is connected by a link I8 with a locking element I9 swingably mounted in the casing of the lock I5 at 20, so that upon a rotation of the bar I1 the locking element IS may :be engaged with the hook-like lug I 6 of the stirrup II.
The described rubbish basket is attached and used as iollows: ,a
First of all, the holder I is iixed in any desired manner, for instance on the wall or a building. Then the container is set on the holder in such a way that the lug 3 passes into the hole 9 in the bottom 8. The supporting stirrup II is then in a slightly raised position. If it is now pressed down with its front bow-shaped part, the hooks I4 enter the eyes 5. At the same time the lug I6 enters the lock I5, where it can be secured.
Through the described construction of the supporting stirrup, a non-detachable connection is obtained between holder andcontainer by simple A supporting stirrup means, although theycan easily be separated by adopting a key. The supporting stirrup has in the present case a double function, in that it serves on the one hand for supporting the container when separated from the holder, and it also ensures at the same time secure connection :between container and holder. It is of course also possible to arrange the eyes on the swivelling carried supporting stirrup and the pins on the holder.
The container 6, instead of being semi-cylindrical, may also be cylindrical, triangular or squareshaped. What I wish to secure by U. S. Letters Patent 1s:

2. A litter basket for attachment to a iixed holder including a pair of stationary spaced colipling means, comprising: a basket body of substantially semi-circular cross-section, a handle swingably mounted on said basket body, e, pair of spaced complementary coupling means, one on each side of the basket body, operatively connected with said swngable handle for participating 'in movements of the latter, said handle being swingable from a non-operative elevated position into `an operative lowered position adjacent to the upper edge of said basket body wherein Said pair of complementary coupling means are in position for coupling engagement with said pair of stationary coupling means of said holder upon attachment of said basket to said holder, cooperative locking meansI arranged on said basket body andsaid handle,said cooperative locking means being capable of Alocking engagement with each other when said handle is in its operative position, and means associated with said locking means for securing a locking engagement thereof and preventing an unauthorized disengagement thereof.
3. A litter basket for attachment to a fixed holder including stationary coupling means at its upper portion and engaging means at its lower portion, comprising: a basket body, a handle swingably mounted on said basket body, complementary coupling means operatively connected with said swingable handle for participating in movements of the latter, said handle being swingable from a non-operative elevated position into an operative lowered position adjacent to the upper edge of said basket body wherein said complementary coupling means is in position for coupling engagement with the stationary coupling means of said holder upon attachment of said basket to said holder, complementary engaging means arranged on the lower portion of said basket body fory engagement with the engaging means on said holder upon attachment of said basket to said holder, cooperative locking means arranged n said basket body and said handle, said cooperative locking means being capable of locking engagement with, each other whenY said handle is in itsv operative position, and means associated with said locking means for securing a locking engagement thereof and preventing an unauthorized disengagement thereof.

A litter basket for attachment to a fixed holder including stationary coupling means at its upper portion and projecting engaging means at its lower portion, comprising: a basket body, a handle swingably mounted onsaid basket body, complementary coupling meansV operatively connected with said swingable handle for participating in movements of the latter, said handle being swingable from a non-operative elevated posi-- tion into an operative lowered position adjacent to the upper edge of said basket body wherein said complementary coupling means is in position for coupling engagement with the station.- ary coupling means of said holder upon attachment of said basket to said holder, said basket body being provided with an aperture at its lower portion for engagement with the projecting engaging means of said holder upon attachment of said basket to said holder, cooperative'locking means arranged on said basket bodyV and said handle, said cooperative lockingv means being capable of locking engagement with` each other when said handle is in its operative position, and means associated with said locking means for securing a locking engagement thereof and preventing an unauthorized disengagement thereof.

Al device for collecting litter, comprising in combination: av holder for attachment to stationary means in a xed position, first coupling means arranged on said holder, a basket body detachably mounted on said holder, a handle swingably mounted on said basket body, second coupling means operatively connected with said swingable handle for participating in movements' of the latter, said handle being swingable from a non-operative elevated position intoV an operative lowered position adjacent to the upper edge of said basket body, said second coupling means being engaged with said first coupling means when upon attachment of the basket body to the holder said handle is in its operative position, cooperative locking means arranged on said basket; body and said handle, saidy cooperative lock-l 4 ing means being capable of lockingv engagement with each other when said handle is in its operative position, and means associated with said locking means for securing a locking engagement thereof and preventing an unauthorized disengagement thereof.
6. In a device for collecting litter as claimed in claim 5, one of said' cooperating coupling means being in the shape of an eye, the other one being in the shape of a pin.

A device for collecting litter, comprising in combination: a holder for attachment to stationary means in a fixed position, iirst coupling means arranged on the upper portion of said holder, engaging means arranged at the lower portion of said holder, a basket body detachably mounted on said holder and engaged with said engaging means, a handle swingably mounted on said basket body, second coupling means operatively connected with said swingable handle for` participating in movements of the latter, said handle being swingable from a non-operative elevated position into an operative lowered position adjacent to the upper edge of said basket body, said second coupling means being engaged with said first coupling means when upon attachment of the basket body to the holder said handle is in its operative position, cooperative. locking means arranged on said basket body and said handle, said cooperativev locking means being capable of locking engagement with each other when said handle is in its operative position, and means associated with said locking means for securing a locking engagement thereof and preventing an unauthorized disengagement thereof.

A device for collecting litter, comprising in combination: a holder for attachment to stationary means in a Xed position, a rst pair ofV spaced coupling means arranged on said holder, a basket body of substantially semi-circular cross-section detachably mounted on said holder, a handle swingably mounted on said basket body, a second pair of coupling means, one on each` side of said basket body, operatively connected with said swingable handle for participatingA in movements of the latter, said handle being swingable from a non-operative elevated position into an operative lowered position adjacent to the upper edge of said basket body, said second pair of coupling means being engaged with said rst pair of coupling means when upon attachment of the basket body to the holder said handle is in its operative position, cooperative locking means arranged on said basket body and said handle, said cooperative lockingl means being ca-V pable of locking engagement with each other when said handle is in its operative position, and means associated with said locking means for securing a locking engagement thereof and preventing an unauthorized disengagement thereof.
9. A device for collecting litter as claimedv in claim 8, wherein one of each set of cooperating coupling* means is in the shape of an eye and the other one in the shape of a pin.
10. In a device for collecting litter as claimed in claim 8, a lug on the lower portion of said holder, and said basket body being provided with an aperture for engagement with said lug; When the basket is attached to said holder.
