A still further object of theinvention islthe provision of a pair-oftwin pails having carrying bails thereon and separate releasable means attaching the pails to one another, said means incorporating a carrying handle for carrying both pails.

The twin pailsshown and described herein have been designed to form a .moreconvenient twin pail combination than has heretofore been known in the art. It is known that twin pail combinations have been devised and such combinations permanently attached the one pail to the other soathat a unit construction was formed which for many purposes was satisfactory and adequate.

The present invention-relates to an improvement in twin pail constructions in that the pails are easily released from one another and the resulting construction is particularly adapted for use in Wall Washing operations wherein a pail of cleaning solution is employed and a pail of rinsing solution is also employed. The twin pails are particularly adapted for use on scafiolds in wall washing operations as they may be turned sidewardly on the scaiiold plank or they may be detached from one another at will. When used in connection with a step ladder, the twin pails disclosed herein may be separated and one placed on the pail holder on the step ladder and the other may be placed on the top step of the step ladder.

A further advantage of the twin pail construction shown and described herein is that it may be readily formed of conventional pails by slight alteration in the circular shape of the pails and the addition of the detachable connecting means disclosed.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can '2 be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from .the spirit of the. invention.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

By referring. to the. drawings and Figures 1 and 2 inparticular; it will be observed that a pair of pails l0 and il are disclosed whichinclude bottommemb'ers I2 and l 3,respectively, and balls 14 and I5, respectively. The bails l4 and 15 are attached to the sides of the pails l0 and II' by means of brackets I6 and [1, respectively. The twin pails Illand it while having normallyround bottoms I2 and I3, respectively, each have one portion of their side wall section partially flattened, as best shown in Figure 1 of the drawings, so that they may be positioned in adjacent relationship to one-another in order that attachment means formed on the twin pails l0 and Il may be employed in attaching'the two together.

In Figure 2 of the drawings the attachment means may be seen to comprise a hook member I 8' formed on the pail II and aloop member l9 formed. on the pail lo, the hook l8 and the loop member 19 being located in registering positions on the flattened sides of the pails l0 and l I so that the hook I8 may be readily engaged in the loop l9 and, when so engaged, will hold the bottom area of the pail ll adjacent the bottom area of the pail ID. The uppermost edges of the pails l0 and H, and particularly the flattened, adjacently located sections as shown, are provided with means for mutual engagement, the said means comprising a bracket 20 positioned on the pail II and extending above the uppermost edge of the rims thereof and having a pair of outturned and upturned members 2| formed thereon to pivotally receive a U-shaped handle and attachment member (see Figure 3).

The U-shaped handle and attachment member includes a handle portion 22A transversely positioned between a pair of attachment members 22 which in turn are pivoted as by means of pivots 23 to the outturned and upwardly turned members 2| formed on the bracket 20 and attached to the pail I I.

Still referring to Figure 2 of the drawings it will be seen that when the pair of attachment members 22 are moved as by motion imparted to the handle portion 22A, they will pivot on the pivots 23 which are on a horizontal plane, and cause their lowermost ends, which are formed in hooks 22B, to move inwardly or outwardly with respect to a pair of openings 24 formed in a plate 25 and attached to the pail II].

It will be observed that when the attachment members 22 are in vertical position, the hook portions 22B thereof may be in engagement with the openings 24 in the plate 25 formed on the pail I0, and that at such times, the twin pails may be conveniently carried by the handle 22A.

It will also be seen that at such time as the attachment members 22 are moved out of vertical position, as for example, in Figure 2, the hook portions 223 thereof will disengage the openings 2G in the plate 25 formed on the pail 10. The pail l I may then be left to disengage the hook [8 from the loop l9 and thereby be completely free of attachment with the pail I0.

As used in wall washing operations, the twin pails are particularly advantageous as it will readily be observed that the pail l may be used for the wall washing solution which does not need to be changed, and that the pail H may be used for the rinsing solution which is usually clear water and must therefore be changed quite often during the wall washing operation. The twin pails, both containing solutions, may be conveniently carried to the job by the common handle 22A and at such times as it is desirable to change the rinsing solution in the pail H, which is normally frequently done during the wall washing operation, the handle 22A may be moved to tilt the attachment members 22 and. disengage the hooks 22B and the pail II will be separated from the pail I0 so that it may be easily carried off and the rinsing solution therein changed. This considerably simplifies the wall washing operation and at the same time enables the advantages of the twin pail construction to be realized.

It will be obvious to those skilled in the art that many equally other advantageous uses may be found for the detachably connected twin pails and it will further be seen that the twin pail construction may be conveniently and economically formed and hence widely distributed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A pair of pails each having bails and each having a flattened side section so that they may be positioned adjacent one another, a bracket positioned on the flattened section of one of the pails and extending above the rim thereof, a pair of attachment members pivoted to the said bracket, and in spaced relation to one another, a handle spacing and holding the said attachment members at their uppermost ends, hooks formed on the lowermost end of the said attachment members, a plate positioned on the flat section of the other one of the said pails and extending above the rim thereof and having a pair of openings formed therein, the said hooks on the said attachment members being adapted to register with the said openings when the attachment members are in vertical position so that the twin pails may be carried by the said handle member and held in engaged position thereby.

2. A pair of pails each having bails, a bracket positioned on one of the pails and extending above and over the rim thereof, a pair of attachment members pivoted to the said bracket in spaced relation to one another, a handle spacing and holding the said attachment members at their uppermost ends, hooks formed on the lowermost end of the said attachment members, a plate positioned on the other one of the said pails and extending vertically above the rim thereof and having a pair of openings formed therein, the said hooks on the said attachment members being adapted to register with the said openings when the attachment members are in vertical position so that the twin pails may be carried by the said handle member and held in engaged position thereby.
