MAIL-SHIPPING CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 262,711, dated August 15, 1882,
Application filed July 10, 1882.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL E.WALBRIDGE, a citizen of the United States,residiu g at Kalamazoo, county of Kalamazoo, State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Mail- Shipping Case, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has for its object certain improvements in the construction of mail-shipping cases to facilitate the operation of unfastening the cover.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective of a case, and Fig. 2 a section on a line near band a a in Fig; 1.
B is the case, and D the cover, hinged at one end.
0 is a concave or dishing recess in the upper side of the cover, at the forward end. From a point at e on either side of recess 0 extends a groove on an incline, increasing in depth to the outer edge of the cover, said groove,ff, thence continningat the same depth around the boxor case. closed in the usual manner of such elastic fastenings, Fig. 1. By this arrangement the band a a is held in position, and is raised by being located over the ungrooved surface between 0 6, so as to leave a space under it in 0 recess 0, and to readily admitof catching hold of said band with the thumb and finger in pulling it off over the end of the casein examining the contents.
Having thus described my invention, what 5 I claim is- 1. The case provided with the dishing recess in the forward end of the cover, the ungrooved portion each side of said recess, and
the groove extending from said portion around 40 the case,in combination with the rubber band, substantially as set forth.
