My invention consists in combining and arranging, With a card suitable for bearingtadvertisements, a receptacle for matches or other articles, the front of which is treated with a phosphorescent or other compound capable of evolving light, so that the position of the receptacle and card can be readily ascertained in the dark.
The accompanying drawing represents a perspective view of one of my advertising-cards.
The card A is of board, paper, or other suitable material adapted to be printed or painted upon, or otherwise provided with the advertisin g matter.
A pocket or receptacle, B, is secured to the face of the board Ain any desired position and in any convenient manner, the essential feature of its construction being that its front exposed side, I), shall be provided with a coat or layer of luminous paint, sulphide of calcium,
(N0 model.)
phosphorescent compound, I), or other material capable of evolving light. 3 r
This device, although it may be made to receive a variety of articles and adapted to various uses, is especially appropriate for use as a match-holder, since in the dark it indicates positively and visibly the position of the holder.
When used as a match-receptacle, I intend to provide the card A also with a piece of sandpaper or other roughened surface as a convenient and ready means ofigniting the matches.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. As a new article of manufacture, an advertising-card, A, provided with a pocket or receptacle, B, the front or exposed side of A which is provided with a layer or coating of a 50 compound capable of evolving light, substantially in the manner and for the purpose described.
2. As a new article of manufacture, an advertising-card, A, provided with a match-receptacle, B, the front or exposed side of which receptacle is provided with a layer or coat of a compound capableofevolving light and with a roughened surface, a, upon which matches may be ignited, constructed substantially in 60 the manner and for the purpose described.
