This invention is particularly adapted for use with a light metallic window and door frame.
In the use of light metallic window or door frames, particularly those constructed of extruded aluminum, it has been found that the Y jambs and headers sometimes become distorted.

It is a further objectrof the invention to` so construct the adjuster that relatively small adjustments which might be referred to as microm- 4 Claims. (Cl. 189-73) eter adjustments of the vertical jambs of the frame may be accomplished and, when accomfplished, maintained.v
It is another object of the invention to provide a device of the above referred to character which is adjustable longitudinally of theframe'member to properly securethe frame to the masonry and to apply Vcompensating force at the point where such force is needed and without the use of wedges such as are customarily used. l
With these and other objects in View, which will appear as the descriptionof this invention progresses, the invention resides in thecombination and arrangement of parts illustrated in the drawing', described in the specification and recited in the claims, the particular forms of the several elements of the invention illustrated in the drawing being selected for the purpose of eX- posing the invention, its application and its functioning.

Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional view on the line I-I of Figure 3 through a. portion of a vertical lamb Of a metallic window-frame, showing a portion of the sill and in' dotted lines indicating the building framing;

. e 2 v i One of the vertical jambs II of the window framing, which is formed preferably of metal such as extruded aluminum, is illustrated as being provided with flanges I 2 such as are now 'quite commonly used, which flanges are in spaced relation to each other, forming a vertical recess I3 in the jamb. e
In Figure 1 the vertical jamb 'is shownv inassociation with a sill I4 and sashes I5 and I6 which operate in the usual grooves Il in the jambs.
The anchor and adjuster includes an anchor plate I8 which is adapted to be secured Vin the `manner in which anchors are usuallysecured to the building window-Opening frame or'masonry I0 by suitable means such as a fastener I 9.
This anchor plate is provided with a substantially flat body portion I8' and this bod;7 portion is provided at one edge with a pair of spaced ears 20 and between these ears 20 the anchor plate is provided with an ear 2| which is offset from the plane of the ears 20, as illustrated in Figures 1 and 3 of the drawing., At the opposite side of the anchorplate I8 an ear 22 is provided, which ear is odset from the plane of the adjacent portion of the anchor` plate I8 to cooperate with the portion 23 of saidV plate in a manner similar to that in which the earsy 20 'and' 27| cooperate. 4
In applying this anchor plate to Athe window frame the plate is canted Vupwardly Or downwardly to locate the ears 2|v and 22 behind 'the flanges I2 of the vertical jamb of the window frame, and then is moved to a positionsubstantially normal to the vertical plane of the window frame to engage the ears behind the flanges I2 and to engage the flanges I2 between the ears 20 and 2| and between the ear 20 and the portion 23 of the anchor plate, the distance between the ears 20 and 2l and betweenthe ear 20 andthe portion 23 ofthe anchor plate being normally suiliciently less than the thickness'of the anges I2 to permit a tight frictional engagement between the anchor plateeand the ilanges I2 of the jamb when the anchor plate is moved to its final working position. A V Y An adjuster is mounted on the anchor plate. This adjuster includes l, bearing head 24 which is provided at its edge with means to receive an adjusting tool, such means being illustrated in the'drawing as a plurality of notches 25,A` and is provided with a vbearing Aportion 26 that is adapted to engage the building window framing I0. An adjusting screw 21 is rigidly associated with the head 24 and has screw-threaded engagement with the anchor plate I 8V at 28. Y,
After the anchor plate I8 has been securedin place asv heretofore described, the adjuster may be actuated to align the vertical jambzof the window frame to relieve it of any outward bowing that it possesses. This adjustment is acconid plished by rotating `the adjuster -until it is based against the building window framing and then continuing the rotation of the screw until the vertical jamb has been forced. inwardlybetween its ends where they join the sill and the header to a sufcient degree to overcome any vertical distortion that the jamb `possesses.
This rotation of the screw may beaccornplished by means of a suitable tool, such as ascrew 1driver, that may be inserted between the window frame and the adjacent face of the building windowopening framing and engaged with the adjacent notch 25 in the head 2 4, and thereafter used to turn the head to cause it to bear against the building window framing, and usingfthisas abase to'V force the .vertical Vjambinwardly to .overcome its distortion. v-fItWillbe realizedlthat because of the screw- .threaded. engagement between the anchcrzplates I8. and the adjuster, a very .inne adjustment` of the vertical jamb of the window frame may be accomplishedrwhich neness of. adjustmentzmay bedetermined by the pitch of the-screw threads.
