SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 259,953, dated June 20, 1882.

. which are adapted to be arranged in such man-' ner as to form a childs crib.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of our invention folded as a chair. Fig. 2 is a side elevation in section on line a: m, Fig. l; and Fig. 3 is a side elevation, showing the frames opened to form a childs crib. The frameA, which has the form of a chair, is provided with a slat bottom, a, and upper and lower rails, b, at the sides and back, which are connected by vertical rounds or bars 0.

The standards d at the forward part of the frame A are formed with central curved prosimilar standards, f, of the folding frame B.

The frame B is constructed with rails and connecting-bars similar to those of frame A, and is made slightly smaller than frame A, so that it can be folded therein.

To the forward edge of the slat bottom a of the frame A is hinged an extension-bottom, a, also formed of slats, which is adapted to rest upon ledges g g on the rails b of the frame B. Thus when the frame B is folded into frame A the extension-bottom a, which also folds into the frame A,,rests upon the ledges g and forms the bottom proper of the chair; but when the frames are opened to form a crib the extension-bottom rests upon'the ledges g to form part of the bottom of the crib.

The frame B is provided with legs h, which support the same at one end when opened to form a crib, and which are adapted to fit against the supporting-rails t of the back of the chair in such manner as to form a finish or facing for the'front of said rails.

When the frames are folded together th rails 11, which are then uppermost,overlap the upper rails, 11, of the frame A, so as to form broad arms for the chair.

The upholstery of the chair is to consist of two suitable cushions-one for the seat and the other for the back-which will form the mattress of the crib when the frames are opened.

We are aware that it is not broadly new to construct a chair with an extension-bottom hinged thereto, whereby the chair shall be convertible into a crib, and therefore we do not claim that feature except in combination with other improved parts.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination of the' frame A, having upper and lower rails at the sides and back, the frame B, pivoted to the standards 01 of frame A, and having its upper and lower side rails provided with ledges on the inside thereof, and the extension-bottom a, hinged to the bottom of frame A, substantially as shown anddescribed, and for the purpose set forth, the frame B having its legs planed upon one side to adapt them to fit against and form facings for the back of the chair when the frames are folded together.
