UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GASSIUS vHOLTON, OFv READING, PENNSYLVANIA.
SASH-CORD PULLEY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 259,155, dated June 6, 1882l Application ined Maren es, lesa. (Model.)
v Reading, in the county of Berks, and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Window-Pul-` leys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specication.
This invention relates to certain improvements in Windowfra-me pulleys; and it has for its objects to provide certain"I means whereby such pulleys may be secured in the windowframes without the use of screws or other similar fastening devices, as more fully hereinafter specified. These objects Iattain by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l represents a transverse sectional view of a window-frame, showing my iin proved device applied thereto; Fig; 2, a perspective view of my improved device detached; Fig. 3, a similar view of a modication of my device; and Fig. 4 represents a vertical section of the forward part of the sheave-casing.
The letter Aindicates the shell of my improved device, which is constructed of cast into the sides of the mortiseD and opening D in the frame and weight-box of the window, which form the seat for the shell, so as to hold theshell in place without the use of screws or other similar fastening devices. The outer its shank, when thus constructed, are formed with serrations or corrugations H, which serve the same purpose as the ribs before mentioned. The letterL indicates the sheave of the pulley, which is journaled between the walls ofthe shell in the usual manner.
The shank of the shell may be of any suitable shape in cross-section; butit is preferably of such form as to fit readily in an aperture made by an auger or other boring-tool for cheapness and convenience.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
1. In a windowpulley, the shell provided with a shank at its rear, adapted to set in an aperture in the rear wall of the window-frame and Weight-box to hold the shell in place, substantially as specified.
2. In a Window-frame pulley, the shell provided with .a shank adapted to set in an aperture in the window-frame and weight-box, and with longitudinal projections, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof Iafx my signature, in presence of two witnesses, this 16th day of March, 1882.
OASSIUS BOLTON.
Witnesses J. ED. WANNER, H. A. ZIEBER.
