ELEVATED CARRIAGE FOR VACUUM CLEANERS Filed Dec. 21, 1949 |NV NTOR DELWYN LIE ENER AT TOR EYS/ rm Patented Apr. 1, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ELEVATED CARRIAGE FOR VACUUM CLEANERS Delwyn Liesener, Jackson, Wis. Application December 21, 1949, Serial No. 134,163
1 Claim. 1
My invention has for its object to provide a simple and convenient roller supported column for carrying a vacuum cleaner and attachment parts therefor, whereby the same may be conveniently handled and transported from room to room to thus eliminate excessive stooping over in manipulating the machine and its parts.
With the above and other objects in View, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, substantially as hereinafter described, and more particularly defined by the appended claim, it being understood that such changes in the precise embodi ment of the herein disclosed invention may be made as come within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawings is illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of the present invention constructed according to the best mode so far devised for the practical application of the principles thereof.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a column embodying the features of my invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional elevation of the same, the section being indicated by line 2, 2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional elevation, the section being indicated by line 3, 3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a cross sectional plan view of the column, the section being indicated by line 4, 4 of Figure 2; and
Figure 5 is another fragmentary sectional elevation through the column illustrating a brush attachment thereto.
Referring by characters to the drawing, I indicates a base disc provided with supporting rollers I, the said disc being provided with a centrally disposed hub 2. Fitted over the hub 2 is a column 3 and the upper end of said column engages a central hub 4 of an upper disc 5, which disc is provided with a centrally raised ring 5' the inner periphery of which forms a seat for a vacuum cleaner A, as indicated in dotted lines.
The peripheral edge of the upper disc is also raised and the surface between the raised rings is provided with a series of apertures 6, 6, which apertures are adapted to receive the head of tubular vacuum cleaner attachments B, which are suspended therefrom.
The lower base portion of the column 3 is adapted to receive a vacuum cleaner coil C, and the upper portion of column 3 is provided with a series of ofiset tongues and clipped therein are certain vacuum cleaner attachments D, whereby they may be conveniently accessible.
The upper and lower column discs I, 5 are secured to said column 3 by a tie bolt 8, "which tie bolt engages the upper and lower faces of the discs hubs 2 and 4, whereby the column is completed, and due to its simplicity, it can be produced at a minimum cost, whereby it is a convenient accessory for manipulating a vacuum cleaner.
I claim:
A portable elevated carriage for vacuum cleaners and their attachments comprising, spaced upper and lower discs; an upright tubular column positioned centrally between said discs and rigidly secured thereto; said upper disc having a raised peripheral edge ring, a raised inner ring spaced therefrom and a series of spaced apertures formed in the surface between said raised rings; said tubular column having a series of upstanding tongues integral with the upper portion thereof and having its lower base portion smooth and unobstructed; and a series of supporting rollers secured to the under surface of the lower disc; whereby a vacuum cleaner and its attachments may be supported on the carriage and easily transported from room to room.
DELWYN LIESENER.
