1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to new and useful improvements and structural refinements in curtain rings, and the principal object of the invention is to provide a curtain ring which may be quickly and easily applied to a curtain and which may be removed therefrom with equal expediency.
This object is achieved by the provision of a curtain ring consisting of inner and outer members, the outer member being slidable on a curtain rod while the inner member is adapted to engage a curtain and is removably receivable in the outer member, this arrangement being such that after the two members are separated, the curtain may be disengaged from the inner member without the necessity of removing the two members from the curtain rod.
Some of the advantages of the invention reside in its simplicity of construction, in its convenient operation as aforesaid, in its pleasing appearance, in its durability, and in its adaptability to economical manufacture.
With the above more important objects and features in view and such other objects and features as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a perspective view of the invention in its assembled form;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the outer member per se;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the inner member applied to a curtain;
Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view, taken substantially in the plane of the line 44 in Figure 1, and
Figure 5 is a vertical sectional view, taken substantially in the plane of the line 55 in Figure 1.
Like characters of reference are employed to designate like parts in the specification and throughout the several views.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, the invention consists of a curtain ring designated generally by the reference character ID, the same embodying in its construction an annular member l2 having an inner edge I4 provided with an annular groove l6, while one side portion of the outer member is formed with a recess or opening l8 connecting or communicating with the groove l6, as is best illustrated in Figure 2.
The invention also contemplates the provision of an expansible and contractable inner member 20 which is preferably formed from resilient wire having spaced opposing ends 22, 24, while an intermediate portion of the inner member is provided integrally with a depending U-shaped detent 26, substantially as shown.
When the invention is placed in use, one of the end portions 22 or 24 of the inner member 20 is threaded through an eye 28 of a curtain 30 so that the eye 28 is disposed in the detent 26 as shown in Figure 3, whereupon the end portions 22, 24 are pressed together so as to contract the member 20 and thereby facilitate its insertion in the outer member H2. The inner member 2il= is then permitted to expand so that it seats itself in the roove [6 of the outer member 12 with the detent 2B projecting downwardly through the recess I8 beyond the outer edge of the member i2 to carry the curtain 30. Needless to say, the members I2, 20 of the ring 10 are slidably positioned upon a conventional curtain rod (not shown), and it is to be noted that when the member 20 is separated from the member 10, the former member may be disengaged from the curtain without the necessity of removing both members from the curtain rod.
It is to be also noted that either or both end portions 22, 24 of the member 20 may terminate in pointed extremities so as to facilitate their insertion in the eye 28 of the curtain.
It is believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly apparent from the foregoing disclosure and, accordingly, further description thereof at this point is deemed unnecessary.
While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combina tion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A curtain ring comprising an annular outer member having an inner edge provided with an annular groove, said outer member being provided in one side thereof with an opening connecting with said groove, and an expansible and contractable inner member of resilient material removably positioned in said groove, said inner member having spaced opposing end portions and being provided intermediate the ends thereof with a depending U-shaped detent extending through said recess beyond the outer edge of said outer member, said detent engaging the ends of said opening to prevent motion of the inner member relative to the outer member.
