PLASTERED WALL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 257,840, dated May 16, 1882,

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST H. BECKER, of St. Louis, Missouri, have made a new and useful Improvement in Plastered Walls, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description,reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specifiation,in which a wall having the improvement is shown in cross-section and. upon an enlarged scale.
The present invention is an improved means for producing a tough surface, not liable to crack, upon a plastered wall.
A represents a plastered wall of the usual description. A textile fabric, preferably cotton sheeting, B,is placed against the wall,but not cemented or pasted thereto. then painted onto and worked into and through the fabric, and to such an extent as to cause a portion, 0, of the paint to come betweenthe fabric and the wall and cause the fabric to adhere to the wall. At the same time enough of Paint G is the paint is left upon the outside'of' the fab ric to coat and form a finish thereupon.
The wall A, prior to the application of the fabric asdescribed, may be painted.
I claim- 1. The herein-described mode of producing a surface upon a plastered wall, which consists in placing a textile fabric against the wall and then working paint onto, through, and beneath the fabric, and thereby causing the fabric to adhere to the wall, substantially as described.
2. A plastered wall having a textile fabric attached thereto, paint being worked onto, through,and beneath the fabric, as and for the purpose described.
