Specification forming part of Design No. 8,175, dated February 23, 1875; application filed February 15, 1875. [Term of Patent 31} years.]

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN E. SMITH, of Enfield, Hartford county, Connecticut, have invented or produced a new and original Design for a Pattern to be Inwrought into Ingrain and other Carpeting, in colors similar to those painted on the drawings or photographs accompanying this specification, or in other col ors substituted in the place of those painted on the drawings or photographs herewith and I do hereby declare that the drawings accompanying this specification do give and convey to any one skilled in the art of carpetweaving a defined and thorough description of the nature of my invention, and are sufficient to enable any one skilled in the art of carpetweaving to use my invention.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The configuration of the design hereunto annexed, when applied to carpeting, in the form similar to the drawings or photographs accompanying this specification.
