This invention relates to improvements in ready built metal outside privy constructions.
An gbject of the invention is to provide an improved knockdown metal outside privy which may be readily assembled in any desired location in a short time by two persons.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved knockdown or ready built metal outside privy which will include an all metal construction being formed of sheet metal and secured together in assembled position by means of a relatively few stove bolts.
Another object of the invention isto provide an improved knockdown or ready built sheet metal outside privy having a floor-with a depending metal skirt portion adapted to be disposed in a hole previously dug in the ground, having means for looking or securing said skirt portion to the ground, and a house portion secured to said floor formed by a plurality of interconnected vertically disposed sheet metal sheets or plates with a hinged sheet metal door for said housing and a slanting sheet metal roof overlying the house being suitably secured to the upper edges thereof.
A further object of the invention is to provide an all metal knockdown and ready built outside privy formed with a metal floor, a depending positioning skirt, house and roof portions, said portions being adapted to be quickly set up and assembled or installed in a short time by two persons using stove bolts as the only hardware for assembling the privy.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved all metal ready built knockdown outside privy of sanitary construction, wherein a toilet stool may be supported, said construction being such that the privy may be quickly cleaned and rendered sanitary, and being formed of metal, said privy will be long lasting and impervious to the ravages of the elements.
-Another object of the invention is to provide an improved all metal ready built knockdown outside privy which will be highly efficient in operation and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved ready built all metal privy showing the same assembled;
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view through the improved ready built all metal privy;
- "mm. (ore-132) ill) 'Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view through the improved readybuilt all metal privy, and
Figure 4 is a detail bottom. plan view of.the privy floor with toilet receiving opening formed therein.
Like characters of reference are used through: out the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts. 1
In carrying out the invention, there is provided an improved ready built knockdown outside privy generally designated by the reference numeral 1 formed of a plurality of elongated'sheet metal strips or plates 2 of substantially U-shape in cross section having securing flanges 3 and 4 formed integrally at the opposite sides of each of said strips or plates 2, whereby the adjacent strips will abut and will be readily secured together when the privy is being assembled and setup, by securing stove bolts 5 through spaced openings or apertures (not shown) formed through said flanges.
In assembling the privy, a square or rectangular shaped hole 6 is first dug in the ground I, of a size to snugly receive the square or rectangular shaped metal securing skirt 8 which is formed with a laterally extending integral supporting flange 9 adapted to contact and lie upon the surface of the ground 1 when said skirt 8 is disposed in the hole 6.
Relatively long headed metal pins l0 are driven through suitably formed apertures ll through the four sides of the skirt 8 into the ground I to anchor the privy to the ground for preventing it from being knocked over or blown over.
A two-piece flat metal floor I2 is provided, and is adapted to overlie and contact the flange 9 and to extend a considerable distance outwardly beyond the edge of the same, as illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings.
The floor 12 is cut out at I3 at the adjacent edges of the sections thereof to form an opening of a suitable size to receive the toilet [4 with its pivoted seat I5 and closure cover is, said toilet being supported and secured in position in any desired manner. The adjacent edges of the floor sections l2 are formed with flanges H which are secured together by means of the stove bolts 5 to hold said sections in fixed and assembled position.
The strips or plates 2 of the house portion l of the privy are formed with the integral inwardly extending flanges I8 and I9 on their upper and lower ends respectively, and the lower flanges l9 are locked to the floor l2 and to the flange 9 of 3 the skirt 8 by means of the vertically extending stove bolts 20.
The upper ends of the strips or plates 2 are angled ofi to support the angularly disposed sheet metal roof 2| which extends beyond the sides of the privy house I, being formed with the depending flanges 22 on its edges for controlling the water run-off and drip from the rain.
A sheet metal door 24 having reinforcing battens 25 will be hinged at 26 in the door opening 21 formed in one side of the privy house I. A
a highly efiicient and sanitary form of ready built knockdown all metal privy which may be manufactured at a relatively inexpensive cost.
While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by. Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A ready built knockdown metal outside privy including a floor portion formed by two interlocking cooperating sections, a depending positioning skirt having a laterally extending integral flange formed thereon, outwardly projecting pins carried by the skirt below the flange for securing said skirt to the ground, said flange being adapted to overlie the ground and said twopiece metal floor being adapted to overlie said flange and to extend beyond the lateral limits thereof, said floor being further formed with a toilet supporting opening, a toilet received therein, vertically extending interconnected side plates secured together at their opposite edges forming a privy house and being connected at their lower ends with said floor portion, a slanting metal roof secured to the upper ends of said side plates, and integrally formed depending drip flanges on the edges of said roof.
2. A prefabricated privy comprising a floor 1 having an opening therethrough, a skirt depending from said floor and adapted to be inserted in an opening in the ground, lateral flanges on the upper edges of the skirt, said flanges being engageable on the ground surface surrounding the upper edges of the opening in the ground, said skirt having apertures and pins extending transversely and outwardly through the apertures for penetrating engagement with the walls of the ground opening, upstanding side panels having transverse flanges at their lower ends, bolts extendingthrough the floor securing the transverse flanges to the flanges on the skirt, the adjacent edges of the panels being provided with side flanges,-bolts securing said side flanges, flanges at the upper edges of the panels, a stool mounted over the opening in the floor, and a flat slanting roof boltedto the flanges at the upper edges of the panels.
