CHARLES PETERSEN, OF CORVALLIS, OREGON.
METAL COLLAPSIBLE CHICKEN-COOP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 17, 1912.
Application filed October 10, 1910. Serial No. 586,420.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES. PETERSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Corvallis, in the county of Benton and State of Oregon, have invented new and useful Improvements in Metal Collapsible Chicken- Ooops, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to knock down metallic chicken coops, and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
The figure of the drawing represents a perspective view of my improved coop.
I wish it to be understood that my structure of coop is made of solid sheets of metal as shown in the drawing, and the numeral 1 designates the front wall thereof having oppositely disposed oblique upper ends provided with a continuous surrounding outwardly disposed flange 3.
The numerals 4L and 5 designate the side walls, the opposite ends of which are bolted to the flanged portion of the front wall below the oblique portion of said flange. The side walls are each provided with outwardly extended flanges 7 and 8 on their upper and lower ends, the lower ones of which are bolted to the floor 6.
The numerals 9 and 10 designate the roof sections, the latter having a longitudinal flange 11 which contacts with and is bolted to the upper flange of the side wall 4 and also bolted to one of the oblique portions of the front wall. The other section 9 of the roof is provided with a downwardly extended flange 12 which overlaps the upper portion of the roof'section 10 and is bolted thereto and to the flanged oblique portion 5. The front wall is provided with reticulated ventilating openings 15 in its oblique through the apex of the two roof sections and contacts with the front wall of the coop and has its lower end projecting through the floor and through that portion of the flange 3 of the front to which the floor is bolted and also penetrates the'ground. A door is hinged to the rod 16 to permit .of access being hadto the coop. i I
I wish it to be understood that the rear wall of the coop is constructed the same as the front wall thereof, with the exception of the door way and has a rod 17 arranged the same as the rod 16.
The structure as above described is easily taken apart and packed together so as to permit of the same being readily removed from one place to another.
Having described my invention what I claim is V A knock down coop, comprising front and rear walls, side walls secured to the front and rear walls, roof sections connected at their outer edges to the side walls, one of said roof sections being formed with a flange overlapping the adjoining edge of the other roof section and bolted thereto, a floor connected to the lower edges of the front, rear and side walls, anchoring rods extending downwardly through the flange of said roof section and through the underlying portion of the other roof section and downwardly and entirely across the front and rear walls, and a swinging door mounted for its opening and closing movements on one of said anchoring rods.
CHARLES PETERSEN.
