that each of the supporting arms 8 is a lightweight butlrigid and firm-supporting structure 'for thering shaped: table top+section Ill. The inclusion of several .such supporting arms secured In orderto facilitate ready comprehension of i this invention and 1a proper appreciation of :the salient features thereof, a specific embodiment .iof' the invention is illustrated" in the accompanyr'ing drawings :forming parthereof and .in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view; :Fignre :2 is a horizontal section taken on line 22 in Figure 1;

I In the views, the same reference numerals indicate the same or like parts.
Referring in detail to the "drawings, the illustrated table, generally designated 4, comprises a v.group ofzfeet 5 securedtogether in acruciform idesignrto thelower .endsfi iofpa vertical cylindrical pedestal .1, about whose upper part are secured :a groupof circumferentially spaced,- radially outwardlyand upwardly-extending supporting arms :generally indicated at 8, .8. The section I5 is enclosed by a covering including a channel It of plastic or metal engaging over its outer peripheral edge." A diagonal brace l8 of metal strip has its lower, and radially inward end secured, as indicated at IT, as by welding or brazing, to the inward end of the supporting arm portion 9 and has its radially outward or upper end similarly secured, as indicated at l9, to the upper and outward end of the arm portion I2. In addition, a horizontal brace 20, also formed of metal strip, is bent. downwardly at the inner end thereof to form an attachment lug 2| which is secured by pairvotkiscrews 22 to the upper part of the pedestal "I and has its outer end welded or brazed iasiindicated at 23', to an intermediate portionofi'the diagonal brace l8. Within thehollow cylinder .34 and resting upon the bottom 35. thereof is a ball thrust bracing 38 which includes a lower ball race 36 which is wedged in the cylinder by means of a shim 31, and has an upper annular ball race 41. Within the upper end of the hollow cylinder 34 is forcefitted a ball bearing 39 having an outer race 40 and an annular inner race 4|. Into the above mentioned nut 3| is screwed the upper threaded end of a reduced portion 42 of a spindle 43' which is axially positioned in the cylinder 34. The reduced portion 42 extends through the opening of the annular inner race 4| and defines an upper shoulder 44 which supportably engages the underside of the inner race 4|. At its lower end the spindle 43 is provided with a reduced portion 45 which extends through the opening of the upper race 41 and defines a lower shoulder 46 which rests upon the upper ball race 41 of the thrust bearing 38, the upper race 41 being arranged so that the thrust bearing 38 supports the combined weight of the spindle 43 and the rotary table top section 26, while the upper ball bearing 38 holds the rotary section 26 centered in the table top opening 24 and eliminates transverse strains and displacements thereof relative to the pedestal I and the stationary table top sesction l 5 and allows free rotation of the rotary section 26 within the opening 24 in the stationary section IS. The annular stationary section l5 may be covered with coating material 48, and similarly the rotary section 26 may be provided with surfacing material 49, the two sections being flush in such a manner that articles can be freely slid thereon across the table top in any direction.
The arrangement is such that if the table is used in a restaurant, for example, various containers of condiments, sauces, and supply dishes placed upon the rotary section 26 will be readily accessible to a groupof persons seated around the table, since the rotary section can be easily rotated to bring any of the various containers or dishes within reach of any of the group. While one of the group is being served from a main dish, others of the group can momentarily use the containers or dishes from the rotary section 26, and after replacing the containers or dishes thereon the rotary section 26 can be retated in step-by-step fashion to make the container available in succession to the various mem bers of the group. The'table can also be used for assembling aparatus by having a group of assemblers around the table with a supply of parts on the rotary section 26, so that the rotary section 26 can be rotated step-by-step to con: front each successive assembler in turn with the proper parts.
Manifestly, variations may be resorted to and parts and features may be modified or used without others within the scope of the appended claims.
Having now fully described my invention, I
