PANTALOONS-PROTECTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent N0. 257,036, dated April 25, 1882.
Application filed March 8, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES J. MODER- MOTT, of Sandy Hook, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and Improved PantaloonsProtector, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention consists of a spring provided with arubber ball at its upperend, and adapted to be attached to the heels of boots and shoes (especially rubbers and other overshoes) for holding up the bottoms of the wearers pantaloons and protecting the same from mud, 850.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Upon the upper end of the spring B is socured by means of the rivet c the rubber ball d, which is held against the heel of the shoe by the spring B with suflicient force to hold the bottoms of the wearers pantaloons when placed between the ball and the heel of the shoe, and in an elevated position, so that they will be protected from mud, snow, and slush.

claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The spring B,provided with the rubber ball d at the top, in combination with the shoe A, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
