1 f vThe invention relates tov improvements in building facing, as described in the vpresentspeciiication and illustrated in the laccompanying drawings that form a part ofthe same.r Y ,Y
The invention consists essentiallyof/the novel features of construction aspointed out broadly and specifically inthe claims ,for noveltylrfollowing a descriptionv containing an explanation in `detail of an acceptable forrrrofl the invention.
The objects of the invention are todevisebuilding facing which may be applied over `walls such as concrete, stone, brick and with slight modifications may be secured to any other type `of wall; toA construct building facingwhich may b e easily assembled together as the sameis appliedA over walls at the building site; to v,enhance the appearance of plain inexpensivev Walls withwa decora,- tive facing; to ufurnish metal building facing which l may be of aluminum, stainless steel, bronze, brass, plated metals or the like; to facilitate the cleaning .of metalY building; facing in which all fastening means; are concealed; to make building facingY which may be manufactured in standard units ofI predetermined sizes .and shapes; and generally. to vprovide lbuilding facing which will be; attractive, durable, inexpensive to manufacture and easy to assemble at the building site. f
In the drawings: n
Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevation showing units of the building facing'assembled together' Figure 2 is a sectional plan. View asvftakren .on the line 2-2 in Figure l. Figure 3 is a fragmentary vertical section as taken on the line 3-3 in Figure 2.
Like numerals of reference' indicate corresponding parts inthe various figures. f
Referring to the drawings, the building -facing vconsists of units or 'panel-s as indicatedbythe numeral I0, and which may be made of anysuitable metal or other material. These panels 'may be various shapesvandgsizes-a'nd are adapted to interlock with one another. In this instance the panel I0 is of an arcuate shape curving inward towards the centre thereof. The outer edges II and I2 at each side of the arcuate shaped panel I0 taper inward almost at right angles to the adjacent portion of the latter. The panel I0 has the supporting flange I3 on one side thereof which extends inward towards thewall I4 of the building. The inner edge of the supporting ange I3 terminates in the shape of a T-formaytion I5 which extends vertically with respect to the same. The rib or bead formations IB and I1 2 form an integralpart of the flange I3 and extend vertically on each side thereof a predetermined distance from the T-formation I5.
The T-formation I5 and the rib formations I6 Aand I'I of the supporting flange I3 extend parallel Vwith respect to one another and the upper and'lower portions are'adapted to be engaged by horizontal T-shaped members I 8. In this respect the upper and lower portions of the supporting flange I3 located between the T-formation I5 and the rib formations I5 and I1 are cut away or cutout suiiiciently to accommodate the cross-bar 'of' the T-shaped members I8. The outer flange of the T-formation I5 of the supporting flange I3 is secured at the upper and lower ends thereof to the cross-bar of the T-shaped members I8 by means of the screws I9.
The body of the T-shaped members I8 has a plurality of anchor plates 2D Welded to the edge thereof and the 'same are embedded in the confcrete wall I 4.
'The side edge of the panel Ii) which has the supporting flange I3 extending inward therefrom has the groove 2I extending vertically throughout the length of same; while the opposite edge or 'free end of this panel has the tongue 22 extending vertically throughout the length thereof.
In'assembling the panels Ill in position on the 30 ,Wall I4 the same are secured in position on the T-shaped member I8 and the tongue 22 ofone paneLis engaged in the groove 2| of the adjacent panel. The panels I0 are placed side by side and one above the other so as to cover any size of Wall, and the band 23 is suitably secured to the same to cover all horizontal joints.
While the panels I0 are adapted to cover straight wall surfaces, it will be seen that with slight modification the same may be adapted to cover corners and also may be arranged to form facing around openings in the wall without de'- parting from the spirit of the invention.
' What I claim is:
