1 Claim. (Cl. 179-185) E This invention relates to a sanitary attachment for a transmitter of a telephone, radio microphone, public address system or the like.
It is an object of this invention to prevent 2 material. I have found that cellulose acetate, known commercially under the trade name Tenite #2, is suitable, and it has sufficient resilience to enable the prongs 6 to wedge in the communication of germs between the users of openings in the telephone housing, and is soft voice transmitters. enough not to wear the holes therein or to be- A further object is the provision of a germicide come loose. It will be observed that the germicidal tablet A further object is the provision of a germicide 10 9 thus is held in spaced relation to the telephone attachment which is rendered effective by conversational spray or moisture in the air to kill germs on contact and to emit a germ-killing gas.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 shows a fragment of a conventional type of hand set combination telephone receiver and transmitter. The mouthpiece is indicated by the numeral 2 and has a perforate diaphragm 3 forming part of the housing enclosing the transmitter mechanism. A holder t comprises an annulus or rim A holder for a renewable antiseptic disc adapted to be attached to a telephone transmitter of the perforate diaphragm type comprising: an annular rim having a plurality of tapered pegs projecting from one face, said pegs being circumferentially spaced to align with the perforations in the diaphragm, and being of a length and thickness to enter and wedge in the perforations of the diaphragm; stop means projecting from the rim to =5 hav tapered p gs 6 extending therefrom, age the face of the diaphragm and limit penewhich are adapted to wedge into the perforations tration of the pegs into the perforations; and a l in the diap ragm 3 0 re a ly retain the grid formed integral with the rim to retain an ho in position. The circular hole or recess 8 in the holder receives the germicidal tablet 9 and holds it in position, and bars I0, which may be formed integral with the rim 5, prevent the tablet from falling forwardly and expose the tablet from the front.
