Abstract
1,099,527. Microphones. AKUSTISCHE U. KINO-GERATE G.m.b.H. Feb. 23, 1965 [March 20, 1964], No. 7707/65. Heading H4J. A microphone 1 is arranged in a housing 7 and is supported axially in the housing 7 with a clearance by a vibrationabsorbing resilient mounting 5, 8 at each end. Each mounting 5, 8 has a rim secured to the housing 7 and is adapted to cooperate with a pin 4 or other member on the microphone 1. The mountings 5, 8 may be of sound permeable fabric, may be apertured or may be of similar form to a loudspeaker centring spider. They may be of impregnated fabric, plastics material or metal. The microphone 1 is rod-shaped and the housing 7 is a tube. The microphone 1 includes a diaphragm 2 and a protective cover 3. Electrical connections are provided via highly flexible wires 9 and tags 11 to a tension relieving bushing 13 which receives a cable 14. The lead wires 9 may be secured to the adjacent pin 16 and extend through the centre aperture of the centring diaphragm 8 (Fig. 4, not shown). The wires 9 are then formed into loops. Baffles, funnels or Helmholtz resonators may be provided in front of the diaphragm 2 to modify the treble response. The microphone shown is of the pressure type but instead may be directional (e.g. cardioid), in which case the housing 7 is provided with apertures.
