My present invention relates to an improved dispenser and more particularly to a dispenser for rolled sheet material and provided with a cover for the roll of flexible transparent material, one edge of which overlaps the other edge to form a cutting edge for the unwound portion of the sheet material.
The dispenser of my invention is especially designed for use with a roll of sheet material such as waxed paper and the transparent cover at once maintains the waxed paper in proper sanitary condition and presents a suitable cutting edge past which the sheet material is pulled when unwound and which edge will cut the web of material when the desired amount has been unwound.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claims.

Referring now to the drawings in detail wherein like characters indicate like parts I have illustrated the dispenser of m invention as embodied in a cylindrical core 2 for a sheet of material as waxed paper 4 wound thereabout.
The hollow journal studs 6 extend into the ends of the core 2 and interlock therewith as at 1, and these journal studs are formed with rings =8 and vertical flanges it with horizontal shoulders H2.
The periphery of the shoulders 52 is preferably formed with angular faces 53 which may be h xagonal, or octagonal as shown, or with any desired number of faces.
A wall bracket M may be used to support the dispenser vertically as shown and this bracket is provided with angle braces at the corners as 15 and the bracket may be attached to the wall by suitable means, as screws. A stud It on the 2 bracket extends into the journal stud 6 and thus securely supports the dispenser thereon. The dispenser may also be used without the bracket in which use the dispenser is placed upon a table or desk or counter, and the angled faces Of the shoulders will prevent the dispenser from rolling.
The cover It for the roll of sheet material is formed preferably of plastic material and as illustrated is transparent and resilient. The cover is of suflicient length to encompass the roll of material. on the core end to provide a substantial overlap as 22. The side edges of the cover are rolled under at 26 and as seen in Figure 7 the rolled edge of the overlapping portion is spread to engage the rolled portion of the cover thereunder.
The cover when molded is so shaped as to afford a normally cylindrical shape to the cover and thus the cover will tend to roll upon itself and to maintain the illustrated position.
. The end of the web of sheet material extends over the inner edge of the cover and under the overlapping portion and thus may be pulled from the cover by pressure on the end of the web which will unwind the rolled material and rotate the core on its journal studs. When sufiicient material has been unwound, the material may be cut by drawing the sheet across the serrated edge 24 of the overlap and the sheet will be cut in a straight line at the point of the termination of the overlap.
The edges of the overlap are beveled as at 25' to prevent binding and also to provide access to the sheet material after the last section has been out if necessary. Normall however, the fingers of the operator may be inserted under the resilient overlap to grasp the cut end of the web and thus pull on t e end to unwound the esired amount of material.
In addition to the use of the flexible and resilient plastic cover I prefer to employ plastic material in the end rings for the stud journals and these rings may be colored as desired to enhance the physical appearance of the dispenser.
The dispenser made according to my invention described above will be inexpensive to manufacture and simple to use with no parts to get out of order, and providing simple and expeditious for replacing an exhausted core when all the material has been used. To refill the dispenser, the journal stud is removed and the core taken out and replaced with a fresh roll of material on a core, the end of the web being passed between the under portion of the cover and the overlapping portion. The journal stud is then replaced and the dispenser is read again for use.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim aS new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A dispenser for a roll of sheet material 5 wound on a tubular core comprising hollow journalstuds engaging the ends of the core of the roll, means n said journals engaging with said core to interlock said journals and said core, an nular rings on said journals engaging the op posite ends of said roll, a vertical flange on said rings, a horizontal shoulder on said flange, a substantially cylindrical flexible cover for the roll having its ends engaging the flange and shoulder on each journal and the longitudinal l edges overlapping and the end of the sheet material passing between the overlapping edges and the outer overlapping edge having a serrated edge for cutting the sheet material.
2. The'invention as in claim 1 wherein means is provided for interlocking the overlapping edges of the cover to prevent unrolling thereof.
