The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of articles, such as rag-rugs, drapery, and plaids for children, and to a device for carrying out the method. The objectv ment shown in Figs. 1 and 2 is intended for the manufacture of rag-rugs while the embodiment shown in Figs. 3 and 4 is intended for the manufacture of fringes. Thus, the embodiment shown in Figs. 5 and 6 can be used for the manufacture of rag articles as well as of fringes.
A rag-rug is manufactured for instance in the following manner. Yarn or strips cut from old or new pieces of cloth, are wound around the fork along the entire length of the fork. After the yarn or the strips have been wound on the: fork-one or more yarns, for instance up to 6': different kinds of yarns, according as a thinner or thicker rug or different colours are desired,
member being forked about the one half of its length by a stitch-receiving gap, the plane of said forked part of said member forming an obtuse angle with respect to the plane of the remaining unforked part of said member, said unforked part forming an inclined rigid mandrel for receiving the yarn-loops to be fed down to said forked part for stitching.
2. A rug making device comprising a rectangular plate-member, said member being bent to an obtuse angle along a transverse line at substantially the half of the length thereof, the one end portion of said member being longitudinally forked by a stitch-receiving gap ending near said transverse line.
3. A rug making device comprising rectangular plate-member being substantially Z-shaped in side view and having at least one of its free shanks forked by a stitch-receiving gap, the angle between each of said shanks and the middlemost portion of said plate-member being obtuse.
SIGNE CHARLOTTA OLSSON.
